Senior Associate, Contollership

About the role

This role involves running the month-end close for an assigned group of Singapore entities, acting as controller for a portfolio of smaller entities, and supporting year-end audit activities. You will own recurring reporting and compliance deliverables, investigate and clear ageing items, and partner with cross-functional teams to resolve queries on assigned entities.

Key responsibilities

• Run the month-end close for an assigned group of Singapore entities: prepare and post journals, complete balance sheet reconciliations, perform flux and variance analysis, and clear open items within the Group close calendar
• Own recurring reporting and compliance deliverables, including incentive and rebate accounting, GST-related schedules, funds and cash requirement reporting, investment monitoring, and statutory and government survey submissions
• Act as controller for a small portfolio of smaller entities, carrying full responsibility for the trial balance, intercompany positions, statutory financial statements, audit deliverables, tax pack inputs and the director approval process for each
• Investigate and clear ageing and unreconciled items — unidentified receipts, outgoing fund items and clearing account differences — and document a treatment that stops them recurring
• Support the year-end audit for the assigned operating entities: prepare schedules, respond to auditor queries and help resolve accounting issues raised during the review
• Partner FP&A, Tax, FinOps and country finance teams to resolve queries on the assigned entities and explain movements in the numbers to non-accounting stakeholders
• Document the processes you take over and identify which steps can be standardised, automated or transitioned to the Shared Service Centre

About you

• Degree in Accountancy or Finance, or a professional qualification (CA Singapore, ACCA, CPA or equivalent)
• 3–6 years of relevant experience in financial accounting or controllership — from an audit firm, a shared service environment or an in-house finance team
• Practical end-to-end month-end close experience delivered against a fixed close calendar
• Ability to own an entity end to end, from maintaining the trial balance through to a full set of financial statements and the supporting audit file
• Working knowledge of IFRS / SFRS(I) and Singapore GST requirements, with the judgement to apply them to day-to-day transactions
• Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills, and comfort handling high-volume transactional data and system-extracted trial balances
• Proven ability to work independently across multiple entities and stakeholders with minimal supervision, and to set out issues clearly in writing
