About Jelawang Capital (Jelawang)
Jelawang Capital is a subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Berhad and it is Malaysia's National Fund-of-Funds, an initiative under Dana Impak. Jelawang Capital aims to develop Malaysia's venture capital ecosystem via investments and partnerships with fund managers.
We are looking for a commercially-minded, execution-focused legal professional to support end-to-end legal matters across corporate, investment, and commercial activities — from structuring and negotiating agreements to ensuring regulatory compliance and providing ongoing legal advisory to support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy and Planning
- Support execution of legal strategy to ensure compliance and business objectives are met. Monitor regulatory and legislative changes and advise relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor and track contractual obligation to ensure compliance with laws, policies and company interests.
Implementation and Effectiveness
- Draft, review, and negotiate investment, operational and/or commercial agreements, including post-transaction legal support.
- Support management of legal disputes and coordinate with external counsel.
- Drive legal initiatives, including training, policy updates, and internal advisory.
- Ensure proper documentation, record-keeping, and contract management process.
- Monitor and manage external legal service providers to ensure quality and timeliness.
- Research, prioritize and address legal issues across the organisation.
Performance and Management
- Monitor legal spend against budget to ensure cost-effective operations.
- Prepare and track legal documentation to ensure timely and accurate execution.
- Participate in training and development to enhance capabilities and network.
- Support achievement of departmental and Corporate KPIs.
Engagement
- Provide legal guidance and advisory to ensure understanding and compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external parties, including regulators and service providers.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) with 5+ year post-qualification experience
- Experience in both private practice and in-house is an advantage
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian legal and regulatory frameworks, in corporate and fund investment environments(regional exposure is a plus e.g. Cayman Islands, Delaware, Singapore, Hong Kong)
- Proven experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts and fund investment agreements.
- Experience in legal dispute resolutions is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Independent, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective stakeholder management and experience working with external counsel.
