We are seeking a self-motivated Backend Engineer to join the Eggplant Generator team and help develop an intelligent chatbot solution. In this role, you will design and implement the server-side architecture that powers our conversational AI, working at the intersection of traditional backend engineering and modern AI technologies.
Beyond writing code, you will craft and optimize prompts, integrate Large Language Models (LLMs), and ensure a seamless, high-quality user experience. Responsibilities:
- Backend Development: Design and build robust, scalable APIs using Python and TypeScript.
- AI Integration: Integrate third-party LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) into the application logic.
- Prompt Engineering: Refine and optimize system prompts to ensure high-quality, accurate, and safe chatbot responses.
- System Architecture: Maintain clean code architecture and ensure efficient database interactions.
- DevOps: Manage code versioning and deployment pipelines.
- Security & Compliance: Implement best practices for data security, privacy, and compliance in all backend operations.
- Collaboration: Work independently to translate business requirements into technical solutions with minimal hand-holding.
Qualitifcations:
- Bachelor/ Master/ PhD in Computer Engineering/Computer Science
- Programming Languages: Strong proficiency in Python (for AI/Data handling) and competent in TypeScript (for Node.js/Server-side logic).
- AI & ML Familiarity: Practical understanding of how LLMs work. Experience with Prompt Engineering (context windows, temperature, few-shot prompting).
- Version Control: Expert-level knowledge of Git (branching strategies, merge conflict resolution, PR workflows).
- API Development: Experience building RESTful APIs.
- Database: Experience with SQL (PostgreSQL) or NoSQL (Vector Databases).

Additional Requirements:
- Containerization: Experience using Docker to containerize applications for consistent environments.
- Orchestration: Knowledge of Kubernetes (K8s) for managing and scaling containers.
- Cloud Services: Understanding of cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
- LangChain/LlamaIndex: Experience with AI orchestration frameworks is a massive plus.
- MCP concepts: Familiarity with structured prompts, shared model state, and protocol-driven interaction patterns.
- Experience designing or integrating MCP servers to support modular, context-rich LLM workflows.
