Job Description:
Job Title: Senior BI Engineer
Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Data Engineer and Data Modeller to understand data sources, transformation logic, and business requirements for the project
- Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned with the project's data architecture, ensuring consistency across bronze and gold layers
- Document and maintain metadata, including data dictionaries, field definitions, business rules, and transformation mappings, within Data Hub or other metadata management tools.
- Analyse source-to-target data mapping to ensure accuracy and completeness of transformation logic.
- Work with stakeholders to capture business definitions, KPIs, and data usage requirements.
- Conduct data profiling and quality analysis to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and anomalies
- Partner with data governance teams to ensure compliance with data privacy, anonymization, and classification standards
- Support testing and validation of transformed datasets to ensure they meet business and technical specifications
- Provide ongoing updates and clear documentation to ensure transparency across the project lifecycle
Required Technical Skill Set:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in being Bi Engineer role.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions.
- Responsible for the full life cycle development , implementation, production support and performance tuning of the Enterprise Data Warehouse, Data Mart and Business Intelligence, Reporting Environments and support the integration of these systems with other applications.
- Analyses business and functional requirements and translates these requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions.
- Documents of new and existing models, solutions and implementations.
- Enhances the performance of business intelligence tools by defining data to filter and indexes.
- Experience of complex report development using tools such as Power Bi, Tableau, Qlik, Cognos TM1.
Desired Competencies:
- Familiarity with Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Databricks environments.
- Experience in business glossary creation and data lineage documentation.
- Exposure to ETL testing and validation processes.
- Understanding of BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for data consumption
- Experience in data modeling data solutions including but not limited to Erwin Data modeler data Warehouse or equivalent knowledge.
Good to have:
- Experience in working with large customers in enterprise application development in the specified skillsets
- Experience in Agile based development
