Position Title: Senior Chemical & Gas Engineer

Location: STMicroelectronics Sdn Bhd, Muar

Position Summary

The Senior Chemical & Gas Engineer is responsible for leading and supporting the operation, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Chemical and Gas Systems within the facility. This role ensures safe, stable, and efficient system performance to support manufacturing operations, while driving compliance with established procedures, operational standards, and departmental KPIs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily operation and preventive maintenance of Chemical and Gas Systems to ensure uninterrupted production support.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise hookup, un-hookup, troubleshooting, workshop service, and system restoration activities.
  • Support and oversee new construction, retrofit, renovation, expansion, and internal re-layout projects related to chemical and gas systems.
  • Execute operational and maintenance activities in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Control Plans, and Out of Control Action Plans.
  • Monitor and maintain the quality, reliability, and capacity of chemical and gas supply systems (LN2, GN2 , Helium, O2, Argon, CF4 .. etc) to meet production demand.
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of bulk chemical and gas distribution systems.
  • Drive operational stability through effective coordination, problem solving, and preventive action implementation.
  • Lead team development through coaching, knowledge sharing, and encouragement of improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical feedback and recommendations to the Facility Engineering Development team for SOP updates and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including other Facility sections, department managers, and directors, to resolve facility-related issues and ensure service alignment.
  • Oversee assigned chemical and gas projects to ensure timely and effective execution.
  • Promote and support operational excellence across all assigned responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from a recognized local or international university or college.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in chemical and gas engineering within a facility environment.
  • Proven hands-on experience in facility operations, maintenance, and system support.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word for reporting, budgeting, RCA, 8D problem solving, project tracking, and presentation preparation.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and levels.
  • Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, take initiative, and assume responsibility effectively.
