About the Role

As a member of the Asia Finance team, The Senior Costing Engineer is responsible to support new project quotations and conduct should be cost analysis to obtain cost saving opportunity in China.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate Bill of Materials (BOM) and review BOM assumptions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Apply standard costing processes to define product target prices and tooling costs in alignment with company standards.
  • Estimate product unit cost and tooling cost to set target price and tooling costs for new project quotes on defined commodities.
  • Conduct shouldbe cost analysis during the sourcing phase for key manufacturing processes such as stamping, injection molding, and die casting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure target pricing is achieved throughout project phases.
  • Review supplier quotations and cost breakdowns to support gap analysis and cost-closure activities.
  • Work with the advanced costing team to review design engineering proposals and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) ideas.
  • Support critical project Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and perform cost walk/variance analysis for transparency and tracking.

Qualifications

  • Willing to work under pressure with flexible working hours between China and Malaysia to adapt to the dynamic market changes associated with Chinese OEMs.
  • Excellent communication skills with multifunctional and international teams.
  • Engineering background with a major in Automotive, Mechanism Design, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, etc.
  • Experience in loose manufacturing.
  • Proficient mathematical logic and data analytics skills.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong foundation in engineering, preferably with a major in Automotive, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Experience in loose manufacturing processes.
  • Background in costing, purchasing, or engineering is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with automotive manufacturing processes, particularly within the China market.
  • Proficient with industry tools such as CATIA, PLM, and UG (Unigraphics/NX).
  • Strong mathematical logic and data analytics skills.
