Job Description

Overall Role Purpose


This role is a key role in the Global Trade Compliance team. The remit will cover 20-25 countries in the relevant region, and will have the responsibility for the following:

  • Lead trade compliance with Global SOP and the applicable legal standards.< /li>
  • Manage and be accountable for the implementation of appropriate processes and controls in the country organization made to ensure full compliance with sanctions and other trade compliance regulations
  • Oversee and support all trade compliance activities in conjunction with the country, regional and global organization
  • Continuously improve Denied Party and sanctions screening processes and procedures in the country organization

Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder External
  • Functionally lead the trade compliance management for the countries in his/her geographic area of responsibility
  • Engage with customers where required in his/her area of responsibility supporting them with the implementation of sanctions compliance program,ensuring full adherence to DHL sanctions compliance and other trade compliance standards and procedures

Stakeholder Internal
  • Proactively formulate ways to enhance compliance with DHL sanctions and export control program in the country organization and manage the implementation of appropriate processes and procedures to ensure highest level of compliance
  • Fictionally lead the execution of the relevant parts of the sanction, export control and other trade compliance programs within the geographic field or responsibility for this role
  • Support, train and advise DHL staff in the country organization in all trade compliance matters
  • Support the Denied Party screening and Sanctions screening managers in investigating sanctions breaches in the countries under this role's responsibility
  • Engage with countries SMT to ensure country trade compliance liasons/managers obtain the required support for the execution of sanctions and export control operations and compliance in the country
  • Manage execution of the Trade Compliance operations as per Global SOP standards within his/her geographic area of responsibility
  • Influence country Sales, CS and OPS activities to include proper controls ensuring compliance with sanctions and export control programs
  • Provide trade compliance updates to the countries to maintain highest level of awareness and engagement at all levels
  • Engage with commercial departments on country (e.g. KAD) and region (e.g. CSI, MNC) level promoting the use of DHL Trade Compliance program and BDP's as unique selling point

Process
  • Implement DHL Express sanctions and export control program in the countries in his/her geographic area of responsibility
  • Lead investigation of sanctions/export control breaches in the countries under his/her responsibility to identify root-cause and support the country organization in implementing proper corrective actions to prevent reoccurrences

People Management
  • Able to exercise functional authority

  • Able to positively influence decisions taken by Country Managers and other country SMT members


Skills & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor'sdegree, preferable in international law, international business administration a plus
  • 7 years in the field of Trade Compliance and/or in the Express Industry
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent negotiation skills with high ability to influence decision making
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage in a matrix environment, without clear hierarchical lines
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • High capability to work in multi-national team, sensitive to cultural differences
  • Willingness to travel (up to 70%)
  • Fluency in written and verbal English
  • Self-motivated, high degree of independence
  • Fast learner - proven ability to learn quickly and implement new knowledge
  • Familiarity with US and EU Sanctions and export control regulations and the screening process - significant advantage
  • In depth knowledge of Express operations process - significant advantage
  • Strong organizational skills
