Handshakes by DC Frontiers is an award-winning DataTech company that leverages data to empower safe, informed business decisions. We are located in 7 cities and are expanding our presence across the globe.
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Data Engineer to lead the evolution of our data ecosystem. You will be the primary architect of our data pipelines, responsible for transforming raw data into high-quality, actionable insights using the Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
Beyond technical execution, you will serve as a technical pillar for the engineering team by mentoring junior talent, setting coding standards, and bridging the gap between complex data strategy and business value.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture & Design: Lead the design and implementation of scalable, end-to-end data pipelines. You will own the transition and refinement of our data into a Medallion design pattern, ensuring data integrity at every layer.
- Pipeline Engineering: Develop robust ETL/ELT processes that handle large-scale data ingestion, transformation, and storage.
- Production Excellence (DAO & DE Integration): Take full ownership of the data lifecycle. This includes managing production tickets, troubleshooting pipeline failures, and performing root cause analysis (RCA). You will lead the Data Ops mindset, ensuring high availability and reliability of production data assets.
- Stakeholder & Delivery Management: Partner with Delivery Managers and business stakeholders to align technical roadmaps with project timelines. You will be the technical voice in the room ensuring that pipelines meet all Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) - including security, scalability, latency, and data privacymandated by our data sources.
- Technical Leadership: Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for data engineering best practices. You'll conduct code reviews, define CI/CD workflows, and ensure the team adheres to high engineering standards.
- Mentorship: Dedicate time to coaching and upskilling mid-level and junior engineers. You aren't just a doer; you are a multiplier who elevates the entire team's technical bar.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Technical Skills
- More than 5 years of working experience in a Data Engineering role
- Data Design - Deep expertise in Medallion Architecture and Data Modeling (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, Normalisation etc.)
- Programing Languages - Python, advanced SQL and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CDKTF or AWS CDK).
- Cloud Infrastructure - Hands-on experience with AWS data services.
- DevOps - Strong understanding of Git and CI/CD pipelines.
Leadership & Other Skills
- Mentorship Mindset: A proven track record of helping peers grow their technical skills.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to look beyond the immediate sprint to see how data architecture supports long-term business goals.
- Communication: Ability to explain complex technical why's to non-technical stakeholders.
