Responsibilities
- Lead workshops with stakeholders across Billing, CRM, and other telecom platforms to develop a clear data migration strategy and detailed plans in collaboration with Project Managers and external partners responsible for overall delivery.
- Create comprehensive migration plans covering all activities required to transfer current and historical data into new systems, ensuring data integrity and system readiness.
- Define and coordinate the necessary resources to execute the migration plan within overall program timelines and constraints.
- Monitor and report progress regularly, identifying any risks or issues related to data migration and developing mitigation plans to resolve them.
- Manage coordination with partners and third-party vendors, guiding ETL engineers to perform data extraction, transformation, and loading activities smoothly.
- Design and implement quality management processes to validate data accuracy, consistency, and completeness during migration.
- Maintain progress trackers for all migration tasks and report updates to project and program boards.
- Collaborate with Architecture and PMO teams to establish standardized data migration approaches and best practices.
- Work closely with vendors to define strategies for data cleansing, extraction, transformation, and mapping from legacy systems, ensuring data integrity and quality throughout.
- Oversee data extraction processes from source systems and manage any necessary changes with third party vendors.
- Ensure delivery and accuracy of Data Migration Mapping Documents and govern migration rollout plans by identifying risks and ensuring key activities are completed.
- Gather and ensure compliance with all business, legal, and regulatory requirements related to data migration.
- Coordinate resources, including platform SMEs and third-party vendors, to support migration activities.
- Review system freeze periods during migration and recommend processes to minimize disruption to telecom business operations.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Telecommunications, or related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in data migration within the telecom industry, working with systems like Billing, CRM, OSS/BSS, and network platforms.
- Proven experience leading large-scale telecom data migration projects involving legacy and modern platforms.
- Experience managing multiple vendors and coordinating cross-functional teams.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with data migration and ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, Azure Data Factory, or telecom specific tools.
- Strong SQL and scripting skills for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
- Understanding of telecom data models and structures including customer, billing, usage, and network data.
- Experience with data quality, validation, and reconciliation processes.
- Knowledge of telecom regulatory requirements and data privacy standards (e.g., GDPR).
- Familiarity with telecom databases (Oracle, SQL Server, Cassandra) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Project & Communication Skills:
- Strong project management capabilities including planning, risk management, and progress reporting.
- Ability to work closely with Architecture, PMO, vendors, and telecom stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent communication skills to lead workshops and present to senior management.
Problem-Solving & Leadership:
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on data accuracy and quality.
- Skilled at identifying and resolving migration issues specific to telecom environments.
- Experience managing multiple migration streams and adapting to fast-changing priorities.
