Key Responsibilities:
- Technical and Engineering Leadership: Spearhead the technical and engineering of utility-scale solar PV projects, ensuring technical excellence, adherence to codes and standards, and alignment with project requirements, budget and timelines.
- Engineering Deliverables: Oversee, review and approve all design and engineering phases, from conceptualisation to detailed design, construction and commissioning support. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with project contractual requirements.
- Technical Project Management: On-site presence during all project phases until handover. Lead site preliminary studies, layout optimisation, and provide construction and commissioning assistance. Collaborate closely with site teams to resolve technical issues and ensure design intent is implemented correctly.
- Contract and Stakeholder Management: Manage contracts and relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, sub-contractors and regulatory bodies. Review and negotiate contracts, scope of works, technical specifications and bill of materials as per project requirements, budget and timeline.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing team of engineers, designers and drafters. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Mentor and develop team members to reach their full potential.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- SEDA GCPV and/or OGPV certification, or equivalent international certifications, is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in solar PV design and engineering.
- Demonstrated leadership/technical experience in:
At least four (4) projects >50 MWp, or
At least two (2) projects >100 MWp at utility scale.
- Strong project management skills, with proven ability to lead end-to-end engineering deliverables for large-scale solar projects.
- Strong leadership, team management, and stakeholder communication skills across multicultural and cross-functional teams.
Competencies/Skills:
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of solar PV fundamentals, electrical engineering principles, and all relevant codes, standards, and industry best practices. Experience in testing, commissioning, and SCADA systems is an added advantage.
- Project Engineering Management: Proven track record of managing large-scale solar PV projects on technical/engineering aspects from inception to completion.
- Site Experience: Extensive experience working on utility-scale solar PV construction sites. In-depth knowledge of site layout, project key milestones, construction practices, testing and commissioning.
- Contractual Acumen: Ability to review and negotiate contracts and agreements between clients, consultants, suppliers, sub-contractors. Strong understanding of technical requirements, industry best practices, risk assurance.
- Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership, team management, and ability to inspire and motivate teams, build consensus, and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
