Job Description

Summary:

The role involves assisting the Lead Electrical Engineer in developing project-specific technical designs, while ensuring the review, preparation, and delivery of design deliverables are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality. It also includes supporting the Lead Electrical Engineer in resolving multi-discipline interface and integration issues with other disciplines and vendors, as well as addressing inter-discipline concerns. Additionally, the role provides support in managing change control within the discipline and, in consultation with the Head of Department, may act as Lead in the absence of the Lead Electrical Engineer or when required.

Job Duties:

Project & Technical:

  1. Ensure that safety is paramount consideration in all tasks performed.
  2. Able to work effectively with 3rd party consultants.
  3. Make sensible technical decisions grounded on solid technical justifications after discussions with peers.
  4. Able to understand the job scope clearly and work independently with minimum supervision.
  5. Perform and review power system studies and analyses with ETAP software to for correct equipment design.
  6. Generate and resolve comments received for project documents philosophies, specifications, calculations, study reports, technical bid evaluations, requisitions etc.
  7. Review vendor ITPs and attend equipment KOM, TC meetings, FATs at vendors works for electrical and other disciplines.
  8. Manage vendor equipment packages to ensure technical and schedule compliance.

Administrative:

  1. Assist Lead EE in providing technical information to commercial department's project budgetary proposals.
  2. Provide technical information to commercial department's project budgetary proposals.
  3. Participate in and perform discipline presentations in project design reviews, workshops etc
  4. Work with Procurement department by providing technical information to ensure equipment procured meet specifications.

Communications & Interfaces:

  1. Interface actively and monitor vendors to ensure timeliness and correctness of information and equipment.
  2. Liaise with Client engineers to achieve convergence of requirements.
  3. Liaise with sub-contractors to ensure work is carried out to design requirement and to avert delays.
  4. Interface with other engineering disciplines to achieve successful, well-coordinated overall design.
  5. Interface with construction and commissioning teams to ensure acceptance of product.
  6. Monitor, review and verify work of other parties (e.g. detailed engineering consultant) to ensure outcomes meet project requirements.
  7. Work with Procurement department by providing technical information to ensure equipment procured meet specifications.

Operations Support:

  1. Visit various sites (i.e. FPSO, yards etc) to verify work is properly executed.
  2. Provide engineering support services to Operations for new installations or modifications under the MOC framework.
  3. Communicate with FPSO operations by providing engineering and technical advice as required.

Leadership:

  1. Identify and document areas of design improvement and lessons learnt and provide input to BASE documents.
  2. Train and motivate junior team members and provide feedback on wellbeing of members to Section Head.
  3. Flag any potential issues as they arise to Section Head for timely resolution.

Job Requirements:

  1. Degree holder.
  2. Registered with BEM.
  3. Minimum 10 years experience in design of offshore oil & gas facilities.
  4. High degree of proficiency of English reading, writing and speaking.
  5. Good presentation skills with Powerpoint.
  6. Good technical report writing skills in English.
  7. Knowledge of electrical standards (IEC 61892, IEC 60079, ABS MOU Part 4 Machinery and Systems or equivalent Class standards).
  8. Ability to use and analyse results of electrical system design software like ETAP.
  9. Expert user of MS office software - Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
  10. Ability to work independently and pro-actively as a team player.
  11. Self-motivated with a positive working attitude.
  12. Demonstrated initiative, flexibility and adaptability to work under pressure.
  13. Excellent problem-solving skills.
