Job Description

  • Lead the design and review of highway drainage systems including roadside drains, culverts, cross-drainage structures, detention ponds, attenuation systems, and river protection works.
  • Perform and review hydrological and hydraulic analyses for minor and major drainage systems.
  • Ensure compliance with JKR Arahan Teknik, MSMA, DID guidelines, and local authority requirements.
  • Prepare and review drainage reports, calculations, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Lead technical submissions and coordinate approvals with DID, JKR, and local authorities.
  • Coordinate drainage design with road geometry, pavements, structures, geotechnical works, utilities, and environmental requirements.
  • Develop flood mitigation strategies and climate-resilient drainage solutions.
  • Provide technical support during procurement and construction stages.
  • Review contractor drainage proposals, shop drawings, method statements, and temporary works.
  • Identify and manage drainage-related risks including flooding, erosion, and system failure.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement and lessons learned.

Job Specification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (water resources or drainage specialisation preferred).
  • Minimum 5-10 years experience in highway and other infrastructure related drainage design and implementation.
  • Strong working knowledge of MSMA, JPS, JKR standards and other relevant international design requirements
  • Experience in flood studies, hydraulic modelling, and authority approvals.
  • Good spoken and written Bahasa Malaysia & English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively within a diverse and multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Experience international projects will be an added advantage
  • Professional Engineer (Ir.) registration with BEM will be an added advantage.
