Senior Engineer, Information Technology

Position Overview

Oversee end-to-end IT operations for the Penang site, covering both the corporate office and Contract Manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Global IT Ops, this role acts as the key link between the local site and Global IT, managing Edge infrastructure, office IT and L2/L3 escalations.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day site IT operations, ensuring high availability for office and manufacturing environments.
• Maintain Edge infrastructure, including factory-floor networking, edge computing nodes, local servers and IoT gateways.
• Ensure stability and security of office IT systems (LAN/WLAN, endpoints, collaboration tools).
• Serve as primary L2/L3 escalation point and resolve high-priority incidents with minimal business disruption.
• Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Manage IT vendors, MSPs and hardware suppliers to ensure SLA compliance.
• Collaborate with global IT teams (Network, Security, Cloud, Service Desk) and act as local IT liaison to business units.
• Lead local IT projects such as infrastructure upgrades, new site deployments, DR and resilience improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in IT, Computer Science, Network Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 6 years of relevant experience in IT infrastructure, networking or site IT operations; manufacturing exposure is an advantage.
• Strong hands-on skills in enterprise networking, Edge/OT infrastructure, servers, virtualization and data center operations.
• Familiar with ITIL/ITSM tools; CCNA/CCNP, ITIL or equivalent certifications are a plus.
• Proficiency in English and Mandarin. As the role liaises regularly with Mandarin-speaking vendors, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solver with ownership; able to provide after-hours support for 24/7 manufacturing operations.
