Seagate International (Johor) Sdn. Bhd. plays a critical role in the precision manufacturing operations that support global hard drive production. Based at Seagate's large substrate manufacturing facility, his group focuses on the polishing and surface processing of aluminum substrates and related media components used in high-performance storage products.
About The Role - You Will
The Polishing Equipment Manager is responsible for the overall performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of polishing equipment used in manufacturing operations. This role leads equipment engineering activities, manages preventive and corrective maintenance, drives yield and uptime improvements, and ensures equipment readiness to meet production, quality, and safety requirements.
- Manage polishing equipment across installation, qualification, operation, and lifecycle support.
- Ensure equipment availability, uptime, and performance to meet production goals.
- Lead equipment troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Establish and maintain preventive maintenance and calibration programs.
- Monitor equipment KPIs (e.g., uptime, MTBF, MTTR, defects) and drive reliability improvements.
- Partner with Process, Quality, and Production teams to support NPI and process changes.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and support DOE and process optimization.
- Lead, coach, and develop equipment engineers and technicians.
- Manage equipment vendors, spare parts strategy, and capital equipment projects.
- Ensure compliance with safety, EHS, and regulatory requirements.
About You
Technical Skills
- In-depth knowledge of polishing processes, equipment mechanics, automation, and controls.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Familiar with SPC, FMEA, DOE, and equipment qualification methodologies.
Soft Skills
- Strong leadership and people management capabilities.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Your Experience Includes
- Minimum 8 to10 years of experience in equipment engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- At least 3 to 5 years in a leadership or managerial role managing engineers/technicians.
- Excellent hands-on experience with polishing equipment (e.g., CMP, glass polishing, precision polishing, or similar).
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Master's degree is an advantage.
