THIS POSITION WILL BE BASED IN MUTIARA DAMANSARA, PETALING JAYA, SELANGOR, MALAYSIA.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify and develop carbon reduction opportunities across the Group, including renewable energy, energy efficiency and other low-carbon solutions.
- Assess technologies such as solar PV, biogas, BioCNG, biomass applications, biomass-based boilers, geothermal and wind.
- Evaluate nature-based and agricultural decarbonisation opportunities, including biochar, soil carbon enhancement and lower-emission fertiliser strategies.
- Review market-based mechanisms such as RECs, PPAs, carbon offsetting and carbon insetting opportunities.
- Conduct preliminary technical, commercial and techno-economic assessments to determine feasibility and emissions reduction potential.
- Prepare concept papers, business cases and supporting documentation for internal evaluation and investment approval.
- Lead early-stage development of selected renewable energy and carbon reduction projects, including internal stakeholder alignment.
- Coordinate across business units and site owners to support project development and handover to the relevant execution owner.
- Maintain a Group-wide overview of decarbonisation opportunities and identify initiatives that can be replicated or scaled across sites.
- Review emissions data and hotspot analyses to translate findings into potential decarbonisation projects.
- Monitor progress of approved projects after handover to ensure alignment with original objectives and sustainability outcomes.
- Support the development of the Group's decarbonisation roadmap and provide inputs for stakeholder engagement, including with customers, investors and financial institutions.

- Strong ability to identify practical decarbonisation opportunities across diverse operational settings.
- Sound understanding of renewable energy, low-carbon technologies and industrial or agricultural decarbonisation pathways.
- Ability to carry out preliminary feasibility studies and high-level techno-economic analysis.
- Ability to work across multiple business units and align stakeholders with different operational priorities.
- Good commercial judgement in assessing viability, scalability and strategic fit of opportunities.
- Ability to translate emissions data and hotspot analysis into actionable project ideas.
- Strong project coordination skills, particularly in early-stage development and cross-functional handover.
- Clear and effective communication skills for preparing papers, presentations and management updates.
- Ability to maintain a Group-level strategic view while working through site-specific opportunities.
ADDITIONAL NOTES/DESIRABLE SKILLS/REQUIRED SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Renewable Energy or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in sustainability, decarbonisation, renewable energy, engineering, technical advisory or project development.
- Familiarity with GHG accounting, emissions analysis and decarbonisation planning.
- Understanding of RECs, PPAs, carbon offsets, carbon insetting and related market mechanisms would be an advantage.
- Exposure to plantation, milling, manufacturing or industrial operations would be beneficial.
- Familiarity with SBTi and climate-related disclosure frameworks would be an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
- Able to work independently while coordinating effectively across corporate and operational teams.
