JOB PURPOSE
Plan, execute, provide, support and assist in the tasks for psychology & counselling services to provide comprehensive mental health support to UTP community which is aimed to foster a supportive environment that enhances academic success and personal growth. This includes conducting individual counseling sessions, facilitating group therapy, and developing programs to promote emotional well-being. Play a vital role in crisis intervention, offering immediate support during mental health emergencies.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Counselling & Psychology Services
Plan, execute, provide and support counselling and psychology services for staff and students to overcome emotional and mental health matters by utilising a range of counselling and psychotherapy techniques, methods and programmes (e.g. stress management, peer counselling and time management) and proposing appropriate intervention plans to ensure staff and students are provided with mental health assistance when faced with emotional instability. Assist the Manager to develop relevant assessment plans, support and coping plans, digital tools to further enhance the quality of the services in:
- Student Mental Health Support: to help students manage stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges.
- Crisis Intervention: Responding to urgent mental health situations, including emergencies or crises involving students, faculty, or staff.
- Mental Health Awareness and Education: Conducting workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns to promote mental health literacy and reduce stigma.
- Research and Program Development: Engaging in research related to student well-being and developing programs to support mental health and campus diversity initiatives.
- Academic Performance Enhancement: to assist students in developing effective study skills, time management, and coping strategies to improve academic success.
Programe Management
Execute and assist in programmes related to counselling and psychology by
- Organising workshops and awareness campaigns to increase mental health literacy among internal and external communities,
- Conducting relevant research to better understand UTP community needs and use the findings to support the development of innovative mental health initiatives,
- Collaborating with external parties such as hospitals, counselling associations and professional psychology bodies to enhance the quality of services and support,
- Participating in outreach sessions, seminars and workshops to actively share and learn ideas, knowledge and best practices.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality of patient data
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
- Recognised Bachelor&aposs or Master&aposs degree in relevant field
- More than 5 years of experience in relevant field
- Experienced as Clinical Psychologist is an added advantage
- Holding the Practicing License
- Professional qualification and advanced degree would be an added advantage
- Fair written and verbal communication skills
