Leadership And Team Management
- Lead, supervise, and mentor a small finance team.
- Allocate workloads and set priorities to ensure timely delivery of finance tasks.
- Support professional development and performance management of team members.

FinancialPlanning And Budget Management
- Work with budget holders to develop and monitor annual budgets for sections,departments, and central units.
- Oversee the preparation of financial forecasts and multi-year projections.
- Provide financial analysis to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and highlight variances.
Invoicing And Revenue Management
- Oversee billing, invoicing, and collection processes (e.g., tuition fees, research income, services).
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of income.
- Resolve billing issues in collaboration with relevant internal units.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare regular financial reports for senior management, governing bodies, and external agencies.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Support internal and external audit processes.
Compliance And Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance withfinancial policies, statutory regulations, and audit requirements.
- Maintain robust internal financial controls and risk management processes.
- Implement best practices in financial governance and record-keeping.
Procurement And Expenditure Oversight
- Oversee purchasing, payments, and supplier management processes.
- Ensure the procurement process adheres to the local regulatory requirements.
- Ensure value for money and adherence to procurement procedures.
Systems And Process Improvement
- Oversee financial systems and databases used for budgeting and reporting.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
Qualifications
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Masters degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA).
- Experience in financial management, preferably in higher education or public sector.
- Significant experience in financial management and accounting.
- Demonstrated experience leading or supervising a small team.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Experience leading audits, compliance, and internal controls.
- Experience of managing multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
- Strong accounting skills.
- Excellent team leadership and staff management experience.
- Excellent IT skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good written and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Capable of complex problem solving, then designing and delivering solutions.
