Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic-minded Senior Infrastructure Strategy Specialist to lead the development and execution of long-term infrastructure strategies that support business growth, innovation, and operational resilience.
In this role, you will act as a thought leader and trusted advisor, helping to shape the future of the organisation's technology landscape across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic assessments of the existing IT infrastructure and identify opportunities for optimisation across data centres, networks, servers, storage, and cloud platforms.
- Develop and drive multi-year infrastructure roadmaps aligned with enterprise objectives, industry best practices, and emerging technologies.
- Provide expert guidance on cloud transformation, hybrid infrastructure design, and scalability planning.
- Partner closely with IT, Cybersecurity, Finance, and Business stakeholders to ensure infrastructure initiatives are well-integrated, cost-effective, and aligned with business priorities.
- Evaluate and recommend suitable technology platforms, vendors, and infrastructure solutions, including supporting due diligence, RFP processes, and contract negotiations where required.
- Monitor emerging technology trends and regulatory developments and assess their potential impact on the organisation's infrastructure strategy.
- Develop robust business cases for strategic infrastructure investments, including ROI, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), and risk analysis.
- Take accountability for identifying and considering business and regulatory compliance risks, and implement appropriate measures to mitigate those risks.
- Maintain awareness of industry developments relating to regulatory compliance, emerging threats, and new technologies to better understand risks and strengthen the organisation's infrastructure resilience.
- Identify and highlight potential concerns or risks and proactively promote best practices in risk management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, architecture, technology strategy, or related roles.
- Proven experience leading strategic infrastructure transformation or modernisation initiatives within complex, enterprise-scale environments.
- Strong knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, as well as data centre infrastructure, enterprise networking, and hybrid environments.
- Strong analytical, financial modelling, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in sustainability / Green IT initiatives or infrastructure cost optimisation strategies.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate complex technology strategies and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Familiarity with IT frameworks such as TOGAF, COBIT, ITIL, or equivalent.
- High level of integrity, strong accountability, and a positive, collaborative approach to teamwork.
- Demonstrates initiative in improving existing processes and environments and is adaptable to embrace new technologies and changes.
