About the Job

The Senior Lead Audit Specialist reports to the Section Head. On a project engagement basis, the Senior Lead Audit Specialist is responsible to supervise and coach the audit team in planning, executing and managing the audit engagements, as well as recommending corrective actions based on best practices to improve the internal controls and operational effectiveness of GELM, GEGM, GETB and GELL.

  • Understand the Internal Audit methodology prescribed in the Audit Methodology Policy, Procedure and Practice Guide and actively guide the audit team to apply it in all the assignments (audits and ad-hoc assignments such as investigation and special reviews).
  • Review audit documentation prepared by the audit team such as Audit Planning Memorandum (APM), Resource Allocation Plan (RAP) and Risk, Control & Testing Strategy (RCTS), walkthrough and testing documentation, to ensure that they meet the requirements of the Internal Audit methodology.
  • Ensure optimal utilisation of resources for audit, and effective and efficient execution of risk-based audits in order to meet audit deliverables timelines. Motivate audit team to ensure that audits are conducted with high quality and professionalism.
  • Ensure that quality audit reports are prepared with practical, actionable and effective recommendations.
  • Supervise issue tracking activities to ensure timely and adequate follow-up by the audit team and proper resolution of issues by auditees.
  • Participate in training and coaching of audit team. Appraise audit team's performance in a timely manner and ascertain their development needs and actions.
  • Develop extensive informal networks and maintain good working relationships with staff members at all levels of the organisation.
  • Participate in the annual audit planning and risk assessment exercise.
  • Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks.
  • Maintains awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company.
  • Highlights any potential concerns/risks and proactively shares best risk management practices.
  • Perform other duties assigned by CIA.

We are looking for people with

  • Degree in Accountancy, Finance or equivalent professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, CFA, CIA and CISA.
  • At least 12 years of relevant work experience, with 8 years in a position leading a team of professionals.
  • Knowledge on best practice requirements which underpin corporate governance.

a. Technical (auditor independence, business acumen, business process analysis, data collection and analysis, risk assessment, internal audit (IA) engagement execution, IA engagement planning, engagement review, conflict management, IA function management and internal controls).
