DESCRIPTION:
Join Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Senior Manager, Business Development and contribute to strategic growth in our commercial organization. In this leadership role, you'll develop and implement effective vertical market growth business strategies to expand our market presence and deliver comprehensive scientific solutions to our customers. Working in close collaboration with the Country General Manager, divisional sales teams, field service, legal, and regional commercial leadership, you'll build and maintain senior-level relationships with key accounts to drive concrete pipeline activity, strategic account plans, and business outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Business Development & Pipeline Growth
Identify and qualify new vertical market business opportunities across Analytical Instruments, Life Sciences Solutions, Lab Products & Chemicals segments
Develop understanding of market landscape and map industry connections to launch events, conferences, customer workshops, etc. to build market presence
Define key applications within the sector and map whole of business portfolio solutions into these buckets
Establish and execute strategies for vertical market growth expansion actions including industry connections and targeted accounts
Build and manage a structured sales pipeline, ensuring accurate forecasting and timely progression of opportunities through the sales funnel.
Lead or support complex, multi-stakeholder deals involving tender participation and framework agreements.
Partner with divisional Sales Managers, Application Specialist, Field Service Engineers to co-develop account strategies and execute cross-selling and upselling opportunities.
2. Market Access & Institutional Engagement
Drive market access strategies for regulated and institutional segments,
Develop relationships with procurement officers, C-suite stakeholders, department heads, and technical decision-makers across target accounts.
Engage with industry associations, chambers of commerce, and scientific bodies to elevate Thermo Fisher's visibility and thought leadership in Malaysia.
REQUIREMENTS:
. Advanced Degree plus 6+ years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 8+ years of experience in business development or strategic sales with proven track record of achievement
. Leadership abilities with experience managing and developing teams
. Demonstrated success in consultative selling and strategic account management
. Excellent project management and organizational skills
. Strong negotiation and relationship-building capabilities
. Strong analytical and financial acumen with ability to develop and execute strategic plans
. Experience working effectively in matrix organizations and cross-functional environments
. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
. Ability to travel up to 50% as required
. Industry knowledge of pharmaceutical, food and environment safety testing, semi-conductor, oil and gas, life sciences, or diagnostic markets preferred
. Experience in international business environments and working across cultures valued
. Proven ability to influence and coordinate activities across teams without direct reporting relationships
