The Financial Markets Ombudsman Service (FMOS) is seeking highly motivated, experienced, and qualified professionals to join our team as a Senior Manager, Legal and Compliance in Kuala Lumpur.

Role Purpose:
To act as the legal advisor and to ensure the effective and efficient management of FMOS's overall legal, policies, compliance, governance, and research functions. This role supports FMOS's strategic objectives by developing and implementing policies in relation to dispute resolution processes, operations, strategies, public relations, and stakeholder engagements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Legal Reviews and Compliance Act as the legal advisor and primary liaison in regulatory engagements.
- Internal Reviews and Audits Conduct and oversee internal reviews and audits periodically to ensure that compliance procedures are followed; Conduct quality assurance on the Recommendations issued by the Case Managers and the Adjudication Decisions issued by the Ombudsmen.
- Policy and Strategy Development Oversee the development of policies and policy related documentation such as reports and papers with the view to continuously enhance FMOS's dispute resolution process including but not limited to submissions to the relevant regulators and industry stakeholders.
- Governance and Board Engagement Advise the management and the Board of compliance risks, issues, and violations.
- Training and Coaching Inform, educate, and train employees on matters associated with laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and industry practices.
- Special Projects and Ad Hoc Assignments Assist the CEO and/or COO with ad hoc assignments, policy research, and project management as needed, contributing to the continuous development of FMOS's legal, compliance, corporate, policy, and strategy frameworks.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
Candidates must possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Law.
- Adequate work experience in regulatory engagement and risk management
- Well-developed organisational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with all department members and to collaborate with external stakeholders.
- Sound knowledge of legal requirements and controls such as Personal Data Protection, Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption, Anti-Money Laundering.
Other Requirements:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, efficiently, and deliver results within stipulated timelines.
- A dynamic, outcome-driven mindset with a commitment to fairness and professionalism.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
