AFRY Malaysia is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Consultant to join our Director Leadership Team within the Power & Energy Division. The successful candidate must hold an active Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate (PEPC) issued by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
This is an office-based consulting role focused on providing technical advisory services, technical due diligence, project development support, and engineering reviews for Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT), gas engine, waste-to-energy, and biomass-to-power projects. In addition to technical excellence, the role requires strong leadership, client relationship management, and business development capabilities to support the continued growth of AFRY's Power & Energy business in Malaysia and the region.

Job Description
- Serve as a member of the Director Leadership Team, providing strategic technical leadership and contributing to the company's long-term business growth.
- Lead technical due diligence assignments for CCGT, gas engine, waste-to-energy, and biomass-to-power projects.
- Provide technical advisory services during project development, feasibility studies, and project execution.
- Review engineering designs, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation prepared by EPC/EPCC contractors.
- Conduct technical assessments of gas turbines, gas engines, and associated balance-of-plant (BOP) systems.
- Review EPC/EPCC proposals, technical bids, and contractor deliverables.
- Identify technical risks and develop practical mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead or support Lender's Engineer (LE), Owner's Engineer (OE), and Independent Engineer (IE) assignments.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, contractors, equipment suppliers, and project stakeholders.
- Prepare technical due diligence reports, engineering review reports, technical assessments, and executive presentations.
- Provide technical guidance during procurement, construction, commissioning, and project execution as required.
- Support business development by preparing technical proposals, participating in client presentations, and identifying new consulting opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients across the power and energy sector.
- Leverage an established professional network to engage with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission), TNB, DOSH, BOMBA, relevant ministries, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers and consultants while promoting technical excellence and knowledge sharing within the organisation.
- Mandatory registration as a Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate (PEPC) with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 10–15 years of experience in CCGT and thermal power projects.
- Demonstrated experience in technical due diligence, project development, Owner's Engineer (OE), Independent Engineer (IE), or EPC/EPCC engineering design review.
- Strong technical knowledge of gas turbines, gas engines, and associated balance-of-plant systems.
- Experience reviewing EPC/EPCC engineering deliverables and technical documentation.
- Experience within engineering consultancy, Owner's Engineer, Independent Engineer, or EPC organisations is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with international engineering standards such as ASME, API, ISO, IEC, ASTM, and other relevant industry codes.
- Excellent analytical, report writing, presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings and site visits.
