We Elevate... Your Responsibilities
Application Engineering
- Perform application engineering (AE) in line with MDC procedures and Work Instructions
- Comply fully with appropriate Schindler Norms and Code of Code Rules
- Performs calculations for non-standard elevators using Schindler Group and Local approved tools e.g. car weight / machine / guide rail
- Define elevator and component specification in accordance with Schindler Elevator Systems Standards (ESS), Group Product Lines and also International and Local Elevator and Escalator Standards
- Select the elevator components from Schindler, Product Line Component Specification
- Ensure that only 3rd party Safety components listed on the 3rd Party Safety Component Database are used. If not in the list, then discuss with Mechanical Engineering Manager
- Check own AE calculations and solutions before submitting for approval on Modernization Design Center Database (MDC DB)
Engineering Drawings and Strength Calculations
- Prepare all engineering drawings using Creo & Windchill
- Prepare strength calculations using either FEM analysis, or manual structural strength calculations
- Prepare all strength calculations according to Engineering Principles and Schindler Mechanical Simulation and Analysis Guideline given in SYBOK Volume 4.1 Design Derivatives
- Apply 4-Eye Principle when preparing drawings and calculations and ensure sign-off by both Originator and Checker
- For all MDC calculation tools, prepare at 3 manual calculation samples before releasing calculation tool for use
MDC Instructions (Guidelines)
- When necessary prepare instructions to enable Engineers and also Operation Country Sales and Layout Engineers to apply pre-approved technical solutions for Tenders and Orders
Product Development
- When required, Product Development to be prepared according to Schindler and International Standards
Planning & Supervision
- Ensure that all inquiries are prepared ad issued in line with the target dates set in the Service Level Agreements (SLA)
- Ensure that all projects are completed in line with the target dates set by the Design Manager
- When required, check and approve solutions prepared by the Mechanical, Application and Layout Engineers in the
- Ensure all relevant documents are filed in the defined sections in the I-drive

- Technical University or College in Engineering Discipline
- Internal Application Engineering Training (tools, methods)
- Basic Layout Engineering (BLE) (products, codes, tools, methods, etc.)
- Creo & Windchill
- Practical field induction training.
- Min 2 years as Senior Elevator / Escalator Layout Engineer, or
- Min 4 years in relevant engineering industry.
