Senior Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate effective planning and problem-solving abilities with minimal guidance. Develop modular hardware designs and generate detailed mechanical systems designs. Conduct thorough engineering analyses on components and sub-assemblies. Proactively identify technical risks and offer reliable design solutions. Ensure quality is integrated into designs throughout the development process. Create and manage a mechanical development timeline. Support project planning and execute design implementations effectively. Develop testing methodologies and prototypes to validate designs. Collaborate closely with the marketing team to analyze customer needs and define product specifications. Convert product requirements into functional systems. Work alongside the manufacturing team on injection molding, gear design, machining, and assembly. Address manufacturing issues, product performance, repairs, and enhancements throughout the product lifecycle. Engage in cross-functional collaboration with various internal teams. Apply advanced mechanical engineering principles to tackle complex challenges.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 8 years of relevant professional experience in mechanical design. Comprehensive experience in product development from concept to mass production. Strong understanding of mechanical engineering design principles and practices. Proven ability to design complex mechanisms including clutches, gear trains, cams, and linkages. Knowledge of electro-mechanical components such as motors and sensors. Specialized expertise in designing plastics, sheet metal, gears, die-cast parts, and electro-mechanical assemblies. Proficient in SolidWorks CAD software and/or Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. Preferred knowledge of Design of Experiments and Six Sigma methodologies. Experience with analytical techniques like Design for Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Design for Assembly, and Design for Manufacturing.
