Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the design, specification, selection, and integration of packaged and rotating equipment for [oil & gas / petrochemical / power generation / industrial] projects. This role involves working closely with multi-disciplinary teams, vendors, and clients to ensure technical compliance, reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness of mechanical systems throughout the project lifecycle
- Lead the mechanical design, coordination, and delivery of building M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) systems for industrial developments. This role involves managing HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical building services,
- Lead mechanical engineering activities related to packaged and rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, blowers, and skid-mounted systems.
- Lead the design, specification, and engineering of mechanical building services (HVAC, fire protection, and other M&E systems). Develop detailed design drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Prepare and review mechanical datasheets, specifications, and technical requisitions for packages and rotating equipment.
- Evaluate vendor bids, perform technical bid clarifications, and recommend vendor selection based on compliance and lifecycle cost.
- Provide guidance and review of vendor documents, drawings, and calculations to ensure compliance with project requirements, codes, and standards (API, ASME, ISO, etc.).
- Interface with process, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and civil/structural teams to ensure proper integration of mechanical systems.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, model reviews, and other technical assurance activities.
- Support construction, commissioning, and start-up phases by providing technical support, troubleshooting, and resolution of mechanical equipment issues.
- Ensure mechanical equipment is designed with safety, maintainability, and reliability in mind while meeting project schedule and budget.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the mechanical discipline.
- Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory requirements related to rotating and packaged equipment.
Addition Skills:
- Competent in firefighting design & familiar with BOMBA requirement
- Perform preparation of datasheet for requisition and evaluation of firefighting equipment including fire alarm system
- Develop Firefighting and Foam system flow diagram, P&IDs.
- Perform hydraulic calculation and generate water & foam demand report
- Draft fire safety design philosophy and review process safety reports including QRA, Fire & explosion risk analysis
Job Requirements:
- A Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of working experience in oil & gas industry in static mechanical equipment.
- Registered Professional Engineer chartered Engineer; professional license/certificate is an added advantage.
Skill Requirements:
- Strong experience with packaged and rotating equipment design, selection, and integration.
- Solid knowledge of relevant codes and standards (API, ASME, ANSI, ISO, NFPA, etc.).
- Proven ability to read and interpret P&IDs, GA drawings, equipment specifications, and vendor documentation.
- Experience in working with EPC contractors, vendors, and clients in multi-disciplinary project environments.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system design and integration.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, local building codes, etc.).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of leading technical discussions with vendors and clients.
- Proficiency in engineering software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CAESAR II, or relevant calculation tools) is a plus.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as project needs dictates.
