The Senior Network Engineer is an L3 technical role responsible for designing, implementing, assessing, and securing enterprise and hybrid network environments, including on‑premises, Azure networking, and hybrid connectivity architectures.
This role supports solution delivery, advisory, and presales activities, leads enterprise network and security assessments, produces Zero Trust–aligned assessment reports, and provides technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers. The Senior Network Engineer ensures high‑quality execution, technical governance, and continuous improvement across network delivery engagements.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Architecture & Delivery
- Design, implement, and optimise enterprise network solutions including LAN, WAN, WLAN, Internet connectivity, routing, switching, and segmentation.
- Produce high‑quality High Level Designs (HLD) and Low Level Designs (LLD) aligned to customer, security, and operational requirements.
- Lead network delivery workstreams across customer projects, ensuring scope, quality, and timelines are met.
Azure Networking & Hybrid Connectivity
- Design and implement Microsoft Azure networking solutions, including:
- Azure Virtual Networks (VNets) and subnet architectures
- Network routing and security controls
- Connectivity between cloud and on‑premises environments
- Design, deploy, and support hybrid connectivity architectures between enterprise networks and Azure.
- Ensure hybrid designs meet availability, performance, scalability, and security best practices.
Network Implementation & Operations
- Implement and support enterprise network environments across:
- Routing and switching
- Wireless and remote connectivity
- Network security and segmentation
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis across enterprise and hybrid environments.
- Support operational handover and provide technical escalation support when required.
Enterprise Network Assessments
- Conduct enterprise-grade network assessments using recognised assessment and monitoring tools to evaluate:
- Network performance and stability
- Configuration and design posture
- Operational and resiliency risks
- Analyse assessment outputs and translate findings into clear, actionable technical recommendations.
- Support customer engagements focused on network optimisation, readiness, and modernisation..
Network Security & Zero Trust Assessments
- Perform network security assessments aligned to Zero Trust principles, including:
- Network segmentation and trust boundaries
- Access control and lateral movement risk
- Alignment with identity‑driven access models
- Identify gaps against Zero Trust networking concepts such as least privilege, explicit verification, and continuous validation.
- Produce professional assessment and security posture reports, including:
- Current state findings
- Risk prioritisation
- Recommended remediation roadmap
Documentation, Reporting & Customer Engagement
- Produce high‑quality technical and executive‑level documentation, including:
- Network assessment reports
- Security posture and Zero Trust findings
- Architecture and design documentation
- Present technical findings and recommendations to customers, stakeholders, and internal teams.
- Participate in customer workshops, technical discussions, and advisory sessions.
- Technical Leadership & Enablement
- Act as a technical authority and escalation point for network‑related matters.
- Mentor and guide network engineers in:
- Design reviews
- Implementation best practices
- Troubleshooting methodologies
- Contribute to internal standards, frameworks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Pre-Sales & Consulting Support
- Support solutioning and presales activities including:
- Technical scoping and effort estimation
- Architecture input and design validation
- Network and security advisory discussions
- Collaborate with Sales and Solutions teams to develop proposals, architectures, and technical write‑ups.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Technical Skills
- Strong experience in enterprise networking: LAN, WAN, WLAN, routing, switching, and IP networking.
- Hands‑on experience with Azure networking and hybrid connectivity architectures.
- Experience conducting enterprise network and security assessments using professional tools.
- Solid understanding of network security principles and Zero Trust architecture concepts.
- Experience producing structured technical and executive‑level assessment reports.
- Familiarity with network monitoring and assessment platforms (e.g. eKahau, Cisco ThousandEyes, LogicMonitor or equivalent).
