Role Description The Senior Oil Analyst role is a full-time, on-site position based in Singapore. The analyst is responsible for developing and maintaining supply-demand balances, price forecasts, and trading insights for crude oil and refined products markets. Daily tasks include gathering and interpreting market data, monitoring macroeconomic and geopolitical developments, and producing timely analytical reports and dashboards for the trading desk.

The role involves close collaboration with traders to translate analysis into trade ideas, refine strategies, and evaluate portfolio performance. The Senior Oil Analyst also contributes to model enhancement, scenario analysis, and risk assessments, while mentoring junior analysts and supporting cross-office research initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in oil market fundamentals, including supply-demand dynamics, refinery operations, and trade flows.
  • Advanced quantitative and analytical skills, with experience in data modeling, time-series analysis, and statistical tools.
  • Proficiency with analytical and programming tools such as Excel (advanced), Python, R, or similar platforms.
  • Experience in derivatives markets, including futures, options, and swaps, and understanding of pricing and risk concepts.
  • Ability to produce clear, concise research reports and presentations for trading and risk teams.
  • Demonstrated capability to work in a fast-paced trading environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in economics, finance, engineering, mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Relevant experience in energy research, trading analysis, or commodities consulting; prior exposure to crude and refined products is highly beneficial.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage constructively with traders, risk managers, and stakeholders across offices.
  • Commitment to high ethical standards, sound judgment, and disciplined risk management.
