Job Purpose
Responsible for the planning, organization, management, implementation and operation of the Group's database services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and administer all database environments, ensuring rapid incident recovery and rootcause resolution.
- Enforce data access controls, apply security patches, and support compliance and audit requirements.
- Perform query tuning, performance optimization, and capacity planning.
- Manage database availability, performance monitoring, event/alert handling, and preventive maintenance.
- Oversee installation, configuration, and adherence to security and configuration standards.
- Analyze system trends to prevent recurring issues and support integration and compliance testing for upgrades.
- Drive change management activities and support DR exercises.
- Develop automation scripts using Shell, Python, or PowerShell to streamline DBA tasks.
- Implement and maintain reliable backup and recovery strategies using native or thirdparty tools.
Desired Skill and Requirements
- Degree in IT or related field with 35 years of experience in providing 247 database support.
- Strong handson experience with major RDBMS platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DB2, or MySQL.
- Solid understanding of HA/DR, backup and recovery tools, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Professional certifications (e.g., MCSA/MTA, Oracle, DB2) and cloudnative or architecturefocused certifications are advantageous.
- Practical experience in ETL, database design, and data warehousing preferred.
- Strong knowledge of database programming environments, including optimization, performance tuning, highavailability configurations (clustering, log shipping), application interfaces, and secure coding practices.
- Ability to develop and maintain technical standards and SOPs.
- Excellent analytical, problemsolving, communication, and writing skills.
- Handson experience in disaster recovery and highavailability environments.
- Familiarity with information security and ITIL processes is desirable.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Huawei Cloud Stack is highly valued.
- Basic understanding of networking, storage, and security as they relate to database systems.
- Able to perform under pressure and meet tight timelines.
