Wood is seeking to recruit a Senior Piping Engineer to join its team in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. With extensive global experience in delivering engineering projects for greenfield and brownfield modification works, Wood is committed to applying its worldclass systems and practices to this assignment. The successful candidate will be part of the Piping Engineering team, contributing to the execution of upcoming projects.

The Role

  • Responsible for the design, specification, analysis, and engineering execution of piping systems for offshore/ onshore oil and gas facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, international codes, and industry standards.
  • Involve in coordination with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective piping solutions throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Engineering and Design

  • Perform piping system design and layout for offshore topsides fixed platforms, FPSOs, modules and onshore facilities.
  • Proficiency in piping engineering tools and software such PDMS / E3D / SP3D / AutoCAD
  • Develop and review piping deliverables including:
  • Piping Layouts and GA Drawings
  • Piping Isometrics
  • P&IDs (marked-up and verified)
  • Piping Material Specifications (PMS)
  • Line Lists and Valve Lists
  • Ensure proper material selection based on process conditions, corrosion allowance, and offshore environmental requirements.
  • Coordinate piping routing considering safety, operability, maintenance, and constructability.
  • Maintain technical integrity - Deliver and support a strong HSE culture and take full cognizance of Health, Safety and Environmental issues
  • Be fully conversant with Process safety and ensure its implementation within the Piping design
  • Ensure documents are originated, checked, and approved by suitable competent personnel
  • Keep up to date with latest procedures, client requirements and legislation

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards such as:
  • ASME B31.3 / B31.8
  • ASME Section VIII
  • API, ISO, NORSOK, etc standards
  • Client engineering specifications and project design criteria

Interdisciplinary Coordination and interface with others

  • Interface with Process, Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, Safety disciplines and others.
  • Support procurement by preparing datasheets, specifications and reviewing vendor documents and technical bids related to piping materials and equipment.
  • Participate in relevant meeting and discussions such as model reviews (3D Model Reviews - resolve clashes), support HAZID, HAZOP, design safety reviews and PEER reviews.
  • Liaise and interact with other disciplines/ project team to ensure overall project goals are met and advise management of variations in a timely manner.
  • Respond to relevant technical queries, deviations, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).

Construction & Commissioning Support

  • Provide field engineering support during fabrication, installation, and offshore hook-up.
  • Review and respond to site queries, technical deviations, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities as required.

Leadership & Mentoring

  • Guide and mentor junior piping engineers and designers.
  • Support Lead engineer by reviewing engineering deliverables prepared by team members and provide input on project planning, workload estimation, and scheduling activities.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
  • 10 years experience of which 7 years must be related to the upstream offshore/ onshore oil and gas industry (Preferably in Greenfield and Brownfield Modification/ Rejuvenation works) - Minimum of 2 years working in a multi - discipline team environment
  • Strong exposure to EPC project execution, from FEED through detailed engineering and construction, is an advantage.
  • Experience with offshore platforms, FPSOs, or subsea tie-ins is highly desirable.
  • Member of a recognized institution and preferably registered as a Professional Engineer / Chartered Engineer
  • Conversant with relevant international standards and Codes or Practice
