Senior Product Manager CardWorks

As we deepen our leadership in the payments ecosystem, the Senior Product Manager will define and deliver the next generation of card and payment products, shaping the experience of millions of users while ensuring compliance and operational excellence.

This role is critical: decisions made here influence what we build, why we build it, and how it delivers value to both customers and the business.

About the Role

This senior position leads the full product lifecycle for CardWorks, from market research and opportunity sizing to roadmap creation, feature execution, product launch, and performance evaluation. The role requires close collaboration with Engineering, UX, Compliance, Operations, and business stakeholders to ensure every product is user-centered, secure, and strategically aligned.

In addition to product ownership, this role manages and mentors a team of Product Managers and Associate PMs, driving a high-performing, customer-focused product organisation and fostering a culture of product excellence across Finexus.

Mission / Expected Outcomes

  • Deliver secure, compliant, high-impact card and payment products that meet regulatory, business, and customer needs.
  • Define and drive long-term product strategy and roadmap for CardWorks.
  • Mentor and develop a team of Product Managers, establishing clear objectives and fostering professional growth.
  • Ensure timely, high-quality delivery of features across issuing, acquiring, fraud, and payment channels.
  • Strengthen cross-functional collaboration and alignment across Engineering, Design, Compliance, Marketing, and Operations.
  • Use data to drive iterative improvements, optimize user adoption, and improve operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Strategy & Vision

  • Define CardWorks product vision, long-term strategy, and roadmap aligned with business goals and market opportunities.
  • Conduct market and competitive analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Business teams to define go-to-market approaches and target user segments.

2. Execution & Delivery

  • Own the product backlog; prioritize features based on strategic impact, customer value, and risk assessment.
  • Write detailed, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Lead Agile ceremonies, ensuring alignment and successful delivery.
  • Oversee complex payment features across multiple systems, including issuing, acquiring, fraud detection, and payment gateways.

3. Business Analysis & Requirements

  • Gather, analyze, and document business, technical, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure functional specifications are compliant with PCI-DSS, KYC/AML, and local banking regulations.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Engineering, UX, Compliance, Operations, QA, and Customer Support to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Engage clients, banks, and external partners to clarify requirements and expectations.
  • Run experiments, collect feedback, and iterate on product direction based on data-driven insights.

5. Domain Expertise

  • Apply deep knowledge of digital payments, card issuing/acquiring, card schemes (VISA, Mastercard), fraud management, 3D Secure, and payment gateways.
  • Ensure products comply with financial regulations and industry standards.

6. Team Leadership & People Management

  • Manage and mentor a team of Product Managers and Associate PMs, providing coaching, performance feedback, and career development guidance.
  • Align team objectives with company goals, fostering ownership, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Establish product standards, best practices, and frameworks to drive execution excellence across the organisation.

Key Requirements

1. Academic Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Optional certifications: CSPO, Agile, Scrum Master, Product Management.

2. Experience

  • 10+ years experience in Product Management, Software Engineering, QA, Business Analysis, or Project Management in fintech/IT, with at least 5 years in senior/lead roles.
  • Strong track record of launching fintech, banking, card, or payment products.
  • Proven ability to manage full product lifecycles with measurable impact.
  • Extensive experience leading cross-functional teams in Agile environments.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure).

3. Technical & Domain Skills

  • Modern software development, product design, and system architecture knowledge.
  • Familiarity with card schemes (VISA, Mastercard), fraud detection, 3D Secure, payment gateways, and compliance (PCI-DSS, KYC/AML).
  • Proficiency in product tools: Jira, Confluence, Miro, Figma.
  • Strong data analysis skills and evidence-based decision-making.
