Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our Technical Engineering Department in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The successful candidate will work closely with our technical team in Asia while supporting projects and operations globally. The role combines hands-on engineering with technical guidance and requires the person to develop safe, practical and commercially sound solutions while supporting colleagues across the Technical Engineering Department and operations.

Your Role

  • Develop technically sound and customer-focused solutions for heavy-lift, heavy-transport and project logistics assignments.
  • Prepare and review method statements, transport plans, lifting plans, stowage plans, seafastening arrangements and operational procedures.
  • Perform or review engineering calculations, including cargo-securing calculations, deck-strength assessments, mooring analyses and rigging calculations.
  • Prepare technical drawings and layouts using AutoCAD or similar software.
  • Plan and engineer transport solutions involving SPMTs, trailers, cranes, barges and vessels.
  • Design grillage, lifting arrangements and other temporary structures required for project execution.
  • Conduct route surveys, cargo inspections, vessel inspections and site assessments.
  • Prepare technical reports, risk assessments, loading and discharge reports and supporting project documentation.
  • Provide technical assistance during project execution, including attendance at sites and client premises when required.
  • Review contractors engineering and challenge technical assumptions and proposed execution methods.
  • Support tendering and business-development activities by preparing technical concepts, execution methodologies and engineering input.
  • Assist and guide engineers and operational colleagues within the global organisation.
  • Participate in clarification meetings with clients, contractors, surveyors and Marine Warranty Surveyors.
  • Help develop and maintain technical standards, procedures and engineering quality across the department.
  • Represent the Technical Engineering Department professionally in internal and external meetings.
  • Travel internationally when required.

Your Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • A background in Naval Architecture is preferred.
  • Significant relevant experience within heavy lifting, heavy transport, marine operations or project logistics.
  • Practical experience with SPMT operations, crane lifting, vessel operations, stowage and seafastening is preferred.
  • Experience preparing engineering calculations, method statements and technical drawings.
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD or comparable engineering software.
  • Experience with applicable marine and cargo-securing standards is an advantage.
  • Strong written and spoken English.
