JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for all cost and contractual issues on the Main Contract as well as Sub-contracts connected to the project. A summary of the responsibilities for this position is, and not limited to, as follows:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparation of Monthly Progress Claims, Variation Orders and payments to subcontractors.
- Involvement in managing and reporting of project budget and cost control.
- Responsible for post-contract administration for both the Main Contract and Subcontracts.
- Monitor all financial aspects of the projects to ensure projects run according to budget.
- Liaise and establish rapport with consultants, quantity surveyors, architects, developers and contractors on certification of claims for payment.
- Be familiar with various stages of projects so as to source for the most viable yet reasonably priced materials.
- Able to share new perspectives on cost, orders and claims.
- With an understanding of contractual legal rights, advise management on their position of the contract from the tender stage.
- Adherence to safety practices in the workplace.
- Responsible for controlling waste management and sourcing of suppliers and subcontractors.
VALUE ADD OF POSITION
- Maintain the project's bottom line by projecting the right cost for tenders and ensuring timely claims for the project.
- Establish a good relationship with the Client, Consultants and Subcontractors to ensure that the project is smoothly managed in terms of resources and timeline.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Building, or Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 6 years of working experience in tendering, estimating and measurement of quantities on projects worth at least RM100 million, with completion of a minimum of 2 projects.
- Good analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
- Technical competencies in construction and contract management.
- Robust knowledge of materials and works.
- Good knowledge of local pricings and measurements of site usage.
