Our client is a wellestablished global engineering group known for delivering advanced process technology, separation solutions, and engineered equipment to chemical, petrochemical, and refining customers around the world. With decades of technical expertise and a strong footprint across Asia, the organisation is now looking to strengthen its presence in Malaysia by hiring a dedicated Senior Sales Engineer or Sales Manager who will take the lead in driving commercial growth in the region.This is the company's first dedicated sales headcount in Malaysia - an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to shape market strategy, build customer relationships, and grow into a leadership role.

Job Description

In this role, you will be the face of the business in Malaysia, working directly with customers across chemical, petrochemical, refinery, and process plant environments. Your focus will be on developing new business, identifying opportunities, and providing technically credible solutions to help customers improve their plant performance.

Your Key Responsibilities Include

  • Growing the company's footprint in Malaysia and supporting activities in Indonesia.
  • Identifying new opportunities through customer visits, market research, and industry networking.
  • Managing the full sales cycle - from understanding customer needs to developing proposals and presenting technical solutions.
  • Supporting preparation of tenders, pricing strategies, and technical clarifications with internal engineering and applications teams.
  • Building strong relationships with plant operators, engineers, procurement teams, and senior stakeholders.
  • Keeping track of market developments, competitor activities, and upcoming project pipelines.
  • Ensuring customer requirements are clearly communicated internally and projects are followed through successfully.
  • This role provides high visibility and longterm progression, with the successful candidate expected to become the commercial lead for the Malaysian market.

The Successful Applicant


Role

To succeed in this role, you should bring a blend of technical depth and commercial drive. We're keen to meet candidates who have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Strong technical knowledge of distillation, separation processes, and mass transfer equipment.
  • 6-7 years of frontline sales experience in the chemical, petrochemical, or refinery sector.
  • Solid understanding of the Malaysian process industry landscape.
  • A track record in business development and market penetration.
