Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Shopify Developer to lead the next stage of development for our e-commerce platform across our regional stores. This is a hands-on technical role with significant responsibility and direct reporting to the Head of E-Commerce.
You will be the primary technical resource for this project, working with a UI/UX designer and managing the full development lifecycle. This role offers substantial autonomy and the opportunity to make key technical decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Development
- Develop custom Shopify themes based on provided designs
- Implement UX improvements such as advanced search and product filtering solutions (Boost Commerce or similar)
- Improve multi-language and multi-currency functionality for 6 regional stores
- Optimize site performance for Southeast Asian markets
- Develop custom checkout flows and third-party integrations
Platform Integration
- Build product synchronization system across 6 Shopify stores
- Integrate with marketplace APIs where required (Lazada, Tokopedia, Shopee)
- Connect product information management systems
- Develop automation scripts for product and inventory management
- Implement order management workflows
- Continuously stay up to date with external software that can improve our operations
Ongoing Optimization
- Performance monitoring and improvements
- Constant UI and UX updates
- Analytics implementation and reporting
- Custom feature development as required
- System documentation
- Knowledge transfer and training
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of Shopify development experience
- Strong proficiency in Liquid templating language
- Solid JavaScript and jQuery skills
- Experience with Shopify APIs (REST and GraphQL)
- Expertise in responsive CSS and HTML
- Understanding of e-commerce best practices and conversion optimization
- Experience with Git version control
- Good communication skills in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Shopify Plus
- Knowledge of product filtering apps (Boost Commerce, Searchanise, Algolia)
- Experience with automation tools (Airtable, Zapier, Make.com)
- Understanding of multi-channel inventory management
- Experience with AI development tools (ChatGPT, Claude)
- Previous work on high-traffic e-commerce sites
