Department Overview
Design & Develop batteries, chargers & power supply for highly-sophisticated two way communication products used in professional & mission critical markets of the commercial, government & industrial segments
Job Description
- Developing new product concept designs that meet customer requirements and safety guidelines using 2D and 3D software.
- Supporting internal design reviews with Electrical Engineering, Product Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and Safety teams, as well as participating in supplier reviews.
- Developing systems and procedures for the fabrication and testing of lithium-ion batteries, power supplies, and chargers.
- Generating 2D drawings per mechanical drafting standards.
- Performing mechanical tolerance analysis and DFMEA.
- Supporting prototype and pilot builds, including investigating materials and production processes.
- Supporting thermal and structural testing by developing setups, writing procedures, and analyzing results.
- Clarifying and solving design issues.
- Releasing mechanical prints and parts qualification reports.
- Setting up and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOM).
- Compiling information for user manuals and instruction sheets.
- Maintaining awareness of design trends in energy products.
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 810 years of experience in mechanical engineering design, from concept through production release, with a focus on DFM.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD and 2D drawings (specifically Pro/E Creo); knowledge of Adobe Illustrator is required.
- Basic understanding of lithium-ion battery, power supply, and charger design and safety.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of material properties for sheet metal and plastics.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and presentation skills for technical audiences.- Experience with manufacturing processes (e.g., plastic injection molding, metal stamping, welding, and PCBA assembly) and FEA structural/thermal analysis is a plus.
