Senior Vision Application Engineer

Working Days / Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30AM - 5:45PM

Working Location: Bayan Lepas, Penang

Job Description:

1. Designs, sourcing, integrations, and tests physical imaging components-such as cameras, optics, lens and lighting-used in automated inspection.
2. Hardware Integration: Install and configure machine vision cameras, lenses, specialized lighting, and frame grabbers. Integrate SDK of camera and frame grabbers.
3. Optical Evaluation: Test and characterize optical performance, field of view, depth of field, and image sensor response.
4. Testing & Validation: Execute qualification plans, run lab tests, and debug hardware or signal issues. Develop test plans and validation procedures for hardware parts.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with mechanical and electrical teams to mount and power vision systems within manufacturing or product constraints. Collaborate with colleagues from different departments to solve machine vision hardware problems and propose the most optimal solution.
6. Well Documentation: Write detailed technical reports, test procedures, and hardware specifications.
7. Translate customer requirements into hardware design specifications, assess design feasibility and provide technical expertise exceeding customer expectations.
8. Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Superior.

Requirements

1. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science, preferably in Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronics, Optical Engineering, or Photonics, with Second Class Upper Honours or above.
2. At least 3 years of working experience in machine vision field.
3. Experience in hardware development in terms of machine vision parts i.e., (a) Machine Vision Camera , (b) Machine Vision Lens , (c) Machine Vision Lighting and Illumination Systems , (d) Frame Grabbers and Image Acquisition Hardware
4. Experience in machine vision hardware development, integration, testing, and troubleshooting .
5. Experience in machine vision library e.g. Halcon, Euresys. is an added advantage.
6. Familiarity with lab and measurement equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and optical test targets.
7. Familiarity with camera interface and communication protocols such as GigE Vision , USB3 Vision , Camera Link , and CoaXPress .
8. Knowledge of optical, lighting and illumination technologies, including IR (infrared) vision technology, is an added advantage.
