Job Summary
The
ShiftM&E Technician is responsible for the
operation, monitoring, and maintenance of mechanical and building systems as part of the shift operations team in a 24/7 environment.
The role focuses on
hands-on mechanical and domestic building systems, including
HVAC, OFA/CDA, PVAC, Exhaust and PCW systems, supporting continuous manufacturing and facility operations. The technician will work closely with the
LV Chargeman and other shift colleagues to maintain overall building functionality.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical & Building Systems Operation
- Operate and monitor HVAC systems (chillers, AHUs, cooling towers) to maintain environmental conditions.
- Operate and maintain Oil-Free Air (OFA / CDA) systems for reliable compressed air supply.
- Operate and maintain Process Vacuum (PVAC) systems.
- Operate and maintain Process Chilled Water (PCW) systems.
- Monitor pumps, exhaust, ducting, and other mechanical equipment for proper operation.
- Assist in general building operations and domestic systems as required.
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on mechanical and building systems to ensure operational reliability.
- Troubleshoot mechanical system faults and support corrective actions under guidance.
- Assist in repairing and maintaining pumps, fans, chillers, vacuum pumps, and other mechanical systems.
Shift Operations & Teamwork
- Participate as a key member of the shift operations team.
- Collaborate with Shift LV Chargeman and other technicians to resolve operational issues.
- Respond to building system alerts, alarms, or abnormal conditions during shift.
Emergency Response
- Support emergency response activities to restore mechanical or building system operations.
- Escalate unresolved issues to the competent engineer or shift supervisor.
- Assist in 1st level troubleshooting and root cause analysis to implementation of corrective actions.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain shift logs, inspection records, and maintenance reports.
- Report system faults, maintenance activities, and incidents promptly.
Compliance & Safety
- Follow all EHS policies, safety procedures, and statutory regulations.
- Participate in emergency drills, inspections, and audits.
- Maintain a safety-first mindset at all times.
Requirements
- Minimum 2–5 years experience in mechanical/building systems in industrial or manufacturing sites.
- Hands-on experience with HVAC, OFA/CDA, PVAC, and PCW systems, pumps, fans, chillers, and ducting.
- Basic troubleshooting and maintenance skills for mechanical systems.
- Ability to work rotating shifts in a 24/7 operational environment.
- Good communication, reporting, and team collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Engineering, or related field.
- Experience in high-tech or electronic manufacturing environments.
- Exposure to BMS/CMMS systems is an advantage.
