1. Job Purpose
The Site General Manager is responsible for the overall governance, strategic oversight, and operational leadership of the India Site, ensuring full compliance withcorporate, regulatory, financial, and environmental standards.
This role does not manage daytoday factory production operations (which fall under the Factory Manager), but instead focuseson sitewide leadership, infrastructure, governance, financial management, stakeholder engagement, and longterm strategic development.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Site Governance & Compliance
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight across all site functions including facilities, infrastructure, maintenance, security, and administrative operations.
- Ensure full adherence to corporate governance standards, internal controls, and compliance frameworks in alignment with group policies.
- Oversee all regulatory compliance obligations including industrial regulations, labor laws, environmental requirements, and municipal guidelines.
- Lead internal and external audits; ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
- Champion ethical practices, risk management, and corporate integrity.
B. Financial Leadership & Reporting
- Own financial reporting at the site level including budgeting, forecasting, cost oversight, and management reporting.
- Partner with Finance to ensure compliance with India's financial regulations and group accounting standards.
- Drive accountability for sitewide cost optimization and resource planning.
C. Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)
- Govern the implementation of EHS systems and ensure compliance with Indian statutory safety and environmental requirements.
- Ensure robust processes for incident reporting, safety audits, and preventive actions.
D. Quality, QMS & ISO Governance
- Ensure QMS implementation consistency across the site, including ISO certifications and regulatory audits.
- Oversee quality governance at a site level, ensuring alignment with corporate standards.
E. Procurement & Commercial Negotiations
- Lead procurement strategy for sitewide requirements such as infrastructure, services, utilities, and major contracts.
- Oversee vendor governance, contracts, and negotiation frameworks.
F. Commercial & BusinessFacing Responsibilities
- Support business development, customer engagements, and commercial discussions where site knowledge is relevant.
- Partner with Sales & BD teams during customer visits, audits, proposals, and strategic discussions.
- Provide site capabilities insights to support commercial growth.
G. India Operating Environment
- Serve as the primary onground leader with strong understanding of local regulations, business norms, workforce environment, and government processes.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with government bodies, industrial authorities, and community stakeholders.
H. People Leadership & Culture
- Lead sitelevel leadership teams (Facilities, EHS, HR, Regulatory, Finance, etc.).
- Drive succession planning, capability building, and highperformance site culture.
3. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 1215 years of leadership experience in plant, site, or industrial operations management.
- Strong experience in:
- Corporate governance and compliance
- EHS and regulatory frameworks
- Financial reporting and cost control
- Largescale site administration and stakeholder management
- Corporate governance background, preferably in a publicly listed or multinational company.
- Commercial exposure, such as involvement in business development, customer interactions, or sales support.
- Ability to speak Tamil to effectively engage local workforce and government bodies.
- Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Strong leadership presence with crossfunctional influence capability.
- Excellent communication skills across levels, cultures, and external stakeholders.
- High integrity, proactive, structured, and capable of independent decisionmaking.
