Role Description

The SME Relationship Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Labuan, Malaysia. This role is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) clients by providing tailored banking solutions, including lending, deposits, trade finance, and cash management products. Day-to-day tasks include identifying new business opportunities, conducting credit assessments, preparing proposals, and ensuring timely follow-up on applications and documentation. The SME Relationship Manager will build long-term relationships through regular client engagement, addressing financial needs, resolving issues, and coordinating with internal stakeholders to deliver seamless service. The role also involves monitoring portfolio performance, managing risks in line with bank policies, and contributing to sales targets and overall branch performance.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong relationship management and client servicing skills, with the ability to build trust, understand SME business needs, and maintain long-term partnerships.
  • Candidates should possess sales and business development capabilities, including prospecting, networking, opportunity identification, and closing deals to meet revenue and growth targets.
  • Candidates should possess sound credit evaluation and risk assessment skills, including financial analysis, interpretation of financial statements, and understanding of lending principles and credit policies.
  • Candidates should possess knowledge of SME banking products and services, such as loans, trade finance, treasury solutions, and cash management, and be able to match these to client requirements.
  • Candidates should possess strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to present proposals clearly, negotiate terms, and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Banking, Business, Economics, or a related field is preferred, along with relevant experience in SME or commercial banking.
  • Ability to work on-site in Labuan, manage multiple priorities, and comply with regulatory and internal policy requirements; familiarity with ASEAN markets and Islamic banking concepts is an advantage.
