Software Developer

Responsible to define, develop, test, analyze and maintain new and / or existing software applications in support of the achievement of business requirements in a leading role. This includes writing, coding, unit testing and analyzing software programs and applications.

The job involves research, design, documenting and modify software specifications throughout the Software Development Life Cycle. This individual will also provide mentoring, support and guidance to Junior Software Developer.

Responsibilities

1. To work closely with Technical Solution, Business Analyst / System Analyst in conceptualizing and developing (coding) of new and / or enhancement of existing software programs and application;
2. Work with System Analyst / Business Analyst to define software requirements and assess feasibility of design within time and cost constraints;
3. Produce documentations as and when needed while adhering to the company's documentation standards;
4. Work with Application Development Manager to produce a coding standard to be used by other developers;
5. Provide guidance to the team to understand technical architecture, system design, code reviews and other related technical areas;
6. Verify application system testing (Unit Testing, System Integration Testing and etc) conducted by developers and/or perform the testing as well, if required.

Duties

1. To coach junior team to meet the standard compliance and best practices as defined by the company;
2. May be required to lead the team in the areas that are related to other function of System Development Life Cycle which give impact to the project performance i.e. system analysis and design, testing, quality assurance, deployment and implementation;
3. Strictly enforce unit test to be carried out and unit test report to be produced by every developer following unit test script;
4. Work with web, user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) designer to plan for the look and feel of the end product and play an important role in creating prototype if needed;
5. Conduct research on current and emerging technology that can be applied to the system / application being developed in order to be relevant and up-to-date;
6. Identifies opportunities to fine-tune and optimize application being developed as well as encouraging code refactoring to the development team;
7. Liaise with database and network designer (if applicable) to create a seamless application that integrates well with database and network setups.
8. Monitor the delivery progress of other software developer and provide quality assurance on all deliverables.
9. Conduct unit testing and together with project team member to be involved in software system integration.
10. Maintain standards compliance and best practices within the project / organization.

Requirements

Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or other IT related

Experience

1. Minimum of five years developing software in application development environment.
2. Proven ability to design and develop large scale, complex software applications.

Technical Skills

1. Strong command in at least one programming language e.g. JAVA, Microsoft .Net (C#, VB.Net, C++), JavaScript / JSON, and capable to coach junior teams to enhance their software development skills and capabilities
2. Strong understanding of object-oriented design concepts, relational database design.
3. Ability to work from basic to complex requirements and specifications
4. Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices.
5. Able to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams.
6. Flexible and adaptable in regard to learning and understanding new technologies.
7. Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills.
8. Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products.
