About Sigmaschool
Sigmaschool is a profitable, product-led education company building an AI-powered learning platform focused on real job outcomes. We do not run theory-first education. We build practitioners through real projects, real systems, and real engineering standards. Our platform, curriculum, and assessment model are designed to reflect how modern software teams actually work.
We are hiring a Software Engineer & Instructor to lead both platform engineering and technical instruction. This is a hybrid leadership role for a real software engineer who wants to shape how the next generation of developers is trained. You will not be a slide-based lecturer. You will be a working engineer who teaches from practice, builds production systems, and raises the technical bar of our students and internal projects.
What This Role Owns
You will own the technical direction of our learning portal and engineering curriculum. You will design and build platform features, review architecture decisions, and ensure our systems are production-grade. You will also lead technical instruction, mentor students and junior engineers, and turn real-world engineering practices into structured learning experiences. You will work closely with the founder and product team to expand our AI-integrated learning platform and launch new technical courses.
What You Will Actually Do
Build and maintain core features of the Sigmaschool learning portal and internal tools. Design APIs, data models, and system architecture with scalability in mind. Set engineering standards, code review practices, and development workflows. Translate real production patterns into teachable modules and projects. Teach advanced technical sessions and guide students through complex builds. Review student projects using real engineering criteria, not academic grading. Continuously improve curriculum so it stays aligned with current industry practice. Integrate AI tools and automation into both product and learning workflows.
Who This Role Is For
This role is for a practicing software engineer who has shipped real systems and wants broader technical influence. You should be comfortable owning systems end-to-end, not just tickets. You should care about code quality, architecture, and developer thinking. You should enjoy mentoring and explaining technical decisions clearly. You should be willing to be accountable for technical outcomes, not just activity.
Required Background
Strong experience as a software engineer working on production systems. Solid skills in modern web stacks, backend services, APIs, and databases. Experience with cloud deployment and real development workflows. Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and review code rigorously. Evidence of real projects or shipped systems is required. Teaching experience is helpful but not required; real engineering experience is mandatory.
Not Suitable If
You only want to teach without building. You only want to code without mentoring. You prefer narrow scoped tasks with no ownership. You are uncomfortable being the technical standard others are measured against. You rely on theory but have limited production experience.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first year, you have raised the technical quality of our platform and student projects, established clear engineering standards, improved platform reliability and developer experience, and built repeatable learning systems that do not depend on any single instructor. Students and team members recognize you as the technical authority across product and curriculum.
Why Join Sigmaschool
You will directly shape a high-impact learning platform used to reskill and upskill working adults in the AI era. You will influence both product and education, not just one side. You will work in a fast-moving, profitable, product-focused environment with real decision authority. This role can grow into broader Head of Engineering or technical leadership responsibility as the platform expands.
Compensation
Senior-level competitive compensation with performance-based growth and leadership pathway. Details discussed based on experience and scope of ownership.
