1. About the Company & Role
Our client is a well-established medical equipment company operating across the region, supplying and supporting a broad portfolio of healthcare devices to hospitals, clinics, and medical institutions. As the business scales its digital and data capabilities, the team is building an in-house AI engineering function to drive smarter operations, better service delivery, and innovation in how medical equipment data is used.
This role is an entry point into that journey. We are looking for software engineers with solid fundamentals who are keen to grow into AI engineering. No prior AI experience is required -- the company provides structured training and mentorship. If you can write good code and you are genuinely curious about AI, we want to hear from you.
2. What You'll Do
Software Development
- Build and maintain backend services, internal tools, and data pipelines;
- Develop and integrate APIs that connect business systems, device data, and reporting layers;
- Write clean, well-documented code and participate in peer code reviews;
- Support the maintenance and improvement of existing software systems.
AI Engineering (Training Provided)
- Learn to integrate AI and machine learning capabilities into business and operational workflows;
- Support the development of AI applications relevant to medical equipment servicing, inventory, and client management;
- Contribute to internal AI tooling, prompt engineering, and model evaluation.
Collaboration
- Partner with operations, service, and sales teams to understand requirements and deliver working software;
- Participate in the company's AI engineering training programme and internal knowledge sharing;
- Document technical work clearly for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
3. What We're Looking For
Must-Have
- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field;
- 4+ years of hands-on software development experience;
- Proficiency in at least one backend language -- Python (preferred), Java, or similar;
- Familiarity with REST APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, and Git;
- Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to pick up new technologies quickly.
Nice-to-Have
- Any exposure to AI, machine learning, or LLMs -- formal, self-taught, or academic all count;
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or similar);
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or CI/CD workflows;
- Experience in or interest in the healthcare or medical devices industry.
4. Why Join
- Structured pathway from software engineer to AI engineer -- the company actively invests in developing this capability from within;
- Your work supports the technology backbone of a business that serves hospitals and healthcare providers across the region;
- A well-run, established business that is now deliberately building its technology capabilities -- real stability with genuine growth upside;
