Job Description:

Role: GPON / XGS-PON Test Engineer

Responsibilities

• Test and validate GPON/XGS-PON OLT and ONT/ONU products.
• Create and execute test plans, test cases, functional, regression, interoperability and performance tests.
• Configure OLT/ONT and validate subscriber services.
• Test VLAN, DHCP, PPPoE, NAT, IGMP, QoS, TCP/UDP, IPv4/IPv6 and other L2/L3 protocols.
• Validate PON features such as GEM, T-CONT, GEM ports, bandwidth profiles and QoS.
• Perform throughput, latency, packet-loss and traffic-performance testing.
• Troubleshoot failures using Wireshark, traffic generators and network test equipment.
• Perform optical testing using Optical Power Meter and OTDR where the role includes physical-fiber validation.
• Analyze defects, reproduce issues and work with development teams for root-cause verification.
• Develop test automation using Python/TCL/Perl where required.
• Work with multi-vendor OLT/ONT equipment and validate interoperability.

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of GPON, XGS-PON, OLT, ONU/ONT and FTTH.
• Good knowledge of Ethernet and L2/L3 networking.
• Hands-on experience with VLAN, DHCP, PPPoE, NAT, IGMP, QoS, ARP, ICMP, DNS and IPv6.
• Knowledge of OMCI and ONT provisioning.
• Wireshark and traffic-generator experience.
• Linux basics.
• Python/TCL/Perl scripting is an advantage or requirement depending on the position.
• Good debugging and test-case development skills.
