Role Overview

The R&D Systems Engineer will spearhead the development and integration of advanced solar tracker systems, focusing on control mechanisms, mechanical design, structural configuration, and system optimization with the potential application of Machine Learning. This role involves overseeing the full system architecture, from initial design to final integration, ensuring all components function harmoniously. Additionally, the engineer will collaborate with international suppliers and academic institutions to drive innovation and enhance project outcomes.

Duties, Tasks And Responsibilities

1. System Design & Control:

- Develop and refine solar tracker control systems, including micro-controller programming and linear actuator control, ensuring precise and efficient solar tracking performance.

2. Mechanical & Structural Oversight:

- Collaborate with suppliers, particularly from China, to design and evaluate the mechanical and structural aspects of solar tracker systems.

3. Systems Integration:

- Lead the integration of electrical, mechanical, control components, and Machine Learning algorithms to ensure seamless system operation, optimizing efficiency and performance.

4. R&D Lab Development:

- Participate in the design and development of the R&D lab, including layout planning, selection of facilities and equipment, and overall lab functionality to support innovative research efforts.

5. Collaboration with Universities:

- Coordinate R&D efforts with academic institutions, managing collaborative projects to advance research in solar tracking technology, including the application of Machine Learning.

6.Testing & Validation:

- Develop testing protocols to assess the functionality, reliability, and performance of solar tracking systems, ensuring they meet company and industry standards.

7.Technical Support for Solar EPC:

- Provide technical expertise for Sustainno's solar EPC projects, including system design and configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization of solar PV installations.

8. Continuous Improvement:

- Stay updated on industry advancements and emerging technologies, including Machine Learning, applying them to improve existing systems and support the company's long-term sustainability goals.

Requirements:

- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering (or a related field).

- 3-5 years of experience in systems engineering, automation, or control systems, with a focus on renewable energy projects preferred.

- Proficiency in designing control systems using micro-controllers (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi) and *PLC* (Programmable Logic Controllers), with experience in mechanical actuation (e.g., linear actuators).

- Strong understanding of system integration, mechanical design, and structural components.

- Experience working with international suppliers and managing technical collaborations, particularly with Chinese suppliers, is a plus.

- Familiarity with solar energy systems, particularly solar PV and solar tracking technologies.

- Knowledge of Machine Learning concepts and their application in system optimization is a plus.

- Excellent project management skills and the ability to coordinate across teams and stakeholders, including universities and industry partners.

- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects.

- Knowledge of solar PV system design, installation, and maintenance.

- Proficiency in simulation and design software (e.g., MATLAB, AutoCAD, or similar).
