We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Solution Architect to join the team, Malaysia's pioneering homegrown digital bank. The successful candidate will design and
oversee the implementation of innovative, scalable, and secure technology solutions that are critical to our digital-first, customer-centric model, with a specific focus on embedded banking and ecosystem integration. This role requires a deep technical background (10+ years) and proven experience in the banking/fintech sector, ensuring technical designs align with our business objectives, enterprise architecture standards (including TOGAF principles), and the stringent regulatory mandates of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).
Responsibilities
1. Digital Solution & Platform Architecture
- Define robust, high-performance solution blueprints, roadmaps, and system architectures specifically for digital banking products (e.g., Savings Jars, Debit Cards, payment services) and the core digital platform.
- Ensure all designs prioritize scalability,reliability, and sub-second performance essential for a high-volume digital platform.
- Lead the architectural design of digital channels (mobile app, web) and their integration with the underlying core banking and payment infrastructure.
- Drive the adoption of modern design patterns, primarily Microservices Architecture, to facilitate continuous deployment and rapid feature iteration.
2. Embedded Banking & Technology Integration
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and partners to enhance our product offerings and ensure seamless integration with the existing Boost e-Wallet ecosystem and other third-party partners (embedded banking).
- Define and enforce integration patterns (e.g., API Gateway, Event-Driven Architecture) for connecting the digital bank with the e-wallet, credit/lending platforms, and external partners.
- Maintain the current technology landscape while strategically guiding the cloud transformation effort (hybrid/multi-cloud, e.g., Azure/AWS/GCP), balancing regulatory requirements with cloud agility.
3. Architecture Governance & Regulatory Compliance
- Establish and enforce rigorous architecture standards and best practices, leveraging TOGAF principles(knowledge is an advantage) for comprehensive architecture development and governance.
- Ensure solutions strictly adhere to all Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) requirements, guidelines for digital banks, and relevant financial regulations, including AML/KYC, PDPA, and data localization/security standards.
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including architecture diagrams and specifications, to ensure design integrity and clear communication across development, security, and compliance teams.
4. Stakeholder Collaboration & Risk Mitigation
- Collaborate closely with product owners, business stakeholders (Retail, SME), and the engineering team to translate complex business needs (e.g., new savings features, SME financing) into well-defined, actionable technical designs.
- Proactively identify and assess potential technical risks (security, operational, performance) and develop effective mitigation plans, ensuring high system uptime and trust.
- Provide technical guidance and expertise throughout the entire project lifecycle, ensuring accurate and timely implementation of designs.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience (10+ years) in solution architecture and technology design, with at least 5 years in the financial services/FinTech sector, preferably within a digital bank or a highgrowth payment/e-wallet environment.
- Proven track record in delivering high-volume, customer-facing solutions across mobile banking, payments, and digital lending.
- Strong expertise in cloud technologies (Azure/AWS/GCP), microservices architecture, and API-first design.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong knowledge of enterprise application architecture and complex integration patterns.
- Experience with TOGAF methodology is a distinct advantage.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities, with the capability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both executive and technical audiences.
