Role Overview
- We are seeking a Solution Architect to architect and manage our high-performance on-premises stack using Docker on Linux (Kafka), IIS applications, and MS SQL Server while architecting our Microsoft Azure environment.
- You will be the technical lead responsible for maintaining the current environment and designing the cloud-native. This includes the containerization of our IIS applications and the implementation of modern DevOps practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Azure Cloud Infrastructure Design: Design and build our first Azure Landing Zone from scratch, including Networking (VNETs/Subnets), Identity (Entra ID), and Security.
- IIS based Application Containerization: Lead the architectural effort to package and run our IIS applications in containers using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Container Services or Azure App Service.
- On-Premises: Architect and maintain Docker swarm on Linux hosts and Kafka clusters.
- Modernized CI/CD: Build and manage unified deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps to support both on-prem and cloud environments.
Required Technical Skills & Experience
- On-Premises
- Full-Stack Linux Management: Perform deep-level administration of Linux hosts (Ubuntu/RHEL/CentOS) supporting our production Docker and Kafka environments.
- Linux Scripting: Develop, test, and maintain complex Bash scripts for the automation of system tasks, resource management, and high-level infrastructure orchestration.
- Docker Operations: Manage and maintain Docker engines across our Linux environment, ensuring container health, resource allocation, and security patching.
- Kafka & Data Streaming: Hands-on experience with Kafka architecture, broker management, and production-grade data streaming.
- Applications in Windows Server: Expert-level configuration of Internet Information Services (IIS) and Windows services for .Net applications.
- Modernized CI/CD: Build and manage unified deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps to support both on-prem and cloud environments.
- Disaster Recovery: Develop and implement robust disaster recovery strategies for on-premises systems, including high-availability configurations and failover mechanisms. For Kafka clusters, design and manage replication strategies using tools such as Kafka Mirror Maker to ensure data consistency and business continuity in the event of failures.
- Azure Cloud Architecture
- Cloud Foundations: Expert knowledge of Azure Resource Groups, NSGs, Identity , Azure Firewall, and Private Links, Azure Key Vault with HSM, Azure Storage & Persistent Data.
- Container Orchestration: Proven experience with AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service), Azure Container Apps and equivalent.
- Azure DevOps: Proficiency in YAML-based pipelines, releases, and artifact management.
- Azure Event Hubs: Practical knowledge with Azure Event or Azure Service Bus is an advantage.
- Disaster Recovery: Implement cloud DR strategies including geo-redundant storage, failover configurations, and backup/restore automation.
