Job Description
Role Description The Special Education Teacher is a full-time role based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The teacher will design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for preschool-age children with diverse learning needs, ensuring goals align with the school's play-based and inquiry-driven philosophy. Daily responsibilities include adapting classroom activities, providing one-on-one and small-group support, and collaborating with general education teachers to create inclusive learning environments. The role involves regular communication with families, maintaining progress documentation, and coordinating with specialists to support each child's developmental, social, and emotional growth. The teacher will also participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and contribute to curriculum planning to improve inclusive practices across the preschool.
Qualifications
- Skills and experience in Special Education, including knowledge of various Disabilities and strategies for inclusive teaching.
- Strong Teaching skills with the ability to adapt instruction for early childhood and, where relevant, Middle School transitional needs.
- Excellent Communication skills for collaborating with colleagues, engaging families, and documenting student progress clearly and professionally.
- Relevant degree or certification in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
- Experience working with young children in preschool or early primary settings, preferably in an international or inquiry-based curriculum.
- Ability to design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and use observation, assessment, and data to guide instruction.
- Commitment to gender-neutral, non-discriminatory, and inclusive practices that respect the uniqueness of every child.
- Patience, empathy, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team in a hybrid work environment.
