Role

The Day-To-Day Activities

  • Coverage and Capacity Demand Analysis & Planning:
  • Conduct in-depth analyses of coverage demands, incorporating terrain, building penetration, and propagation modelling to support high-level planning decisions.
  • Implement strategies to address coverage gaps and capacity needs, including recommendation of new site placement, antenna optimization, upgrade requirement, and technology recommendations.
  • Provide design recommendation on cell configurations (e.g., sectorization, Massive MIMO) to maximize capacity and efficiency in high-traffic areas; innovates on cost-effective coverage solutions to address the coverage requirements
  • Monitor the trending of key performance indicators (KPIs) related to RAN network coverage and capacity such as signal strength, throughput, etc. and provide forecast analysis on radio network requirement
  • Industry and Regulatory Support:
  • Participate in industry discussions and regulatory engagements (e.g., MCMC meetings) to gather insights and support compliance efforts.
  • Assist in developing network-sharing proposals and solutions to meet regulatory and coverage demands.
  • Team Collaboration and Development:
  • Act as a technical resource for junior engineers, providing guidance on tools, methodologies, and best practices in RAN planning.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing within the team to enhance collective expertise in network design and optimization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of planning outputs into detail planning team
  • Support the Principal Engineer in reviewing and refining planning deliverables for accuracy and feasibility.
  • Process Enhancement:
  • Contribute to the adoption of automation tools and scripting to improve planning efficiency and scalability.
  • Identify opportunities to refine processes and tools based on performance data and team feedback.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in RAN planning and design for mobile networks.
  • Experience with automation, scripting, or data analytics in network planning.
  • Prior involvement in 5G radio network planning preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with network planning tools (e.g., ASSET, Atoll, Planet) and GIS software (e.g., MapInfo, Google Earth).
  • Strong understanding of 2G/3G/4G/5G technologies and network standards.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
