Job Description
Speech Language Therapist (SLT) is responsible to provide safe and quality speech-language rehabilitation services to patients in a compassionate, professional, ethical, and knowledgeable fashion within the legal scope of professional code of ethics and scope of practice within federal, state, and PAH policies & procedures. To collaborate with other interdisciplinary teams to provide person-centered care that aims to achieve optimal outcomes for the patient. The role will include but are not limited to: planning and implementing affairs related to unit and patient management. She/he is required to collaborate with consultant on related treatment and surgical procedures.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and implement the management of the Speech-Language Rehabilitation Unit to ensure that services are smooth and can meet the set objectives.
- Plan, set and implement activities in line with current clinical management and needs.
- Tracking and trending of specific performance indicators for the department.
- Prepare reports related to the unit/service.
- Adhere to and promote hospital philosophy, policies and protocols. Read and acknowledge updated policies and SOP.
- Conducts patient evaluations and diagnoses for mild speech-language and swallowing cases.
- Conducting interventions for patients with mild speech-language and/or swallowing disorders.
- Provide consultation or advisory services to patients and/or caregivers for mild speech-language and swallowing cases.
- Perform duties in a manner that indicates awareness of safety needs of patients, staff and self, show current knowledge of legal responsibilities and risk management. Problem solve or make decisions based on ethical and legal guidelines.
- Take immediate and appropriate action in an emergency situation and participate where skill and decision are needed. Understand responsibility for Code Blue, fire and internal/external disaster.
- Escalate/communicate matters of concerned to Administrator on Call of the shift as necessary.
- Care and maintain clinic or own department facility, asset, supplies, equipment and instruments in good working condition. Report to superior and related department e.g. Engineering for any breakdown or malfunction.
- Feedback, recommended and assist in purchasing related equipment related to SLT service
- Participate/assist in improvement project/program as needed. Promote hospital goals and objectives
- Assume responsibilities for personal professional growth and promote professional growth and competency pertinent to the staff
- Monitor and update HRIS system info on regular basis i.e. employee profile, leave request, time card record etc.
- Interact with peers, staff, patients and visitors professionally. Function within the expectations of PAH Mission and Values. Emulate and demonstrate the SHARE principles.
- Demonstrate good communication skills and have a pleasant demeanor and attitude.
- Work beyond normal working hours as required.
- Other responsibilities such as demonstrate excellence in both internal external customer service, report monthly census and work closely with OPD supervisor and head of department.
- Collaborating with Marketing department and community health department for extra activities to promote hospital services.
- Perform other duties as assigned by line supervisor(s).

JOB QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Speech Science with a minimum of 2 years experience.
- Teamwork orientated and the ability to work using own initiative.
- Independent thinker, good problem solving skills
- Possess good leadership, interpersonal, planning, organizing, problem solving and analytical skills
- Possess adequate computer skills in carrying out responsibilities.
- Speak English and Bahasa Malaysia. Chinese language and other dialect is an advantage.
