Job Description
The service holder will be in charge of all Material, Welding, and Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) aspects of the Subsea Production System (SPS) package, covering activities from design, qualification, supply, and manufacturing through to construction and pre-commissioning / commissioning for operation. The role ensures overall consistency with good industry practices and compliance with applicable codes and technical standards, including reviewing, approving, and preparing dossiers for the Call For Tender (CFT) and Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication and Supply (EPFS) phases of the SPS system for a very deep-water oil greenfield project.
Key Activities
- Provide high-standard services with regard to Health, Safety, Security, Environment & Quality (HSE&Q), implementing and controlling relevant rules and requirements within the area of responsibility. Ensure all technical documentation and SPS contractor activities comply with HSE&Q requirements and highlight any potential deviations. Ensure safe working practices are implemented throughout all project phases.
- Provide high-level support to ensure compliance with the organization's Ethics and Code of Conduct policy, and promote and enforce the Anti-Corruption Program within the project.
- Stay informed of SPS-related company rules, specifications, international norms, and standards, extracting all applicable requirements for the SPS package.
- Identify, implement, and manage any study or qualification program required for SPS engineering, construction, fabrication, testing, and installation.
- Ensure that all engineering, fabrication, construction, testing, qualification, pre-commissioning, and commissioning aspects are suitably addressed during the different engineering phases, by timely reviewing (or overseeing the review) and validating relevant SPS documentation issued by contractors (technical documentation, queries, derogation requests).
- Coordinate Materials, Welding & NDE studies related to design, risk analysis, and QA/QC.
- Ensure a clear definition of technical scope of work and interfaces between contracts, produce required CFT documentation, and review bidders proposed execution plans and schedules.
- Supervise and approve Materials, Welding & NDE-related detailed design activities, and support the Engineering Manager in advising on and supporting qualification activities linked to the use of new or non-standard/common technology (NDE, welding, and materials matters).
- Coordinate welding and NDT expertise, and lead audit and vetting of equipment and service providers for Welding & Materials procurement and construction.
- Apply welding competence covering low-alloy steel (e.g., F22/8630, A77), buttered connections, weld overlay, and super duplex stainless steel butt welding of large-bore components.
- Define, develop, issue, and maintain all necessary technical documentation related to the SPS packages. Support and participate in developing and maintaining core project management documents (Statement of Requirements, Front-End Development Plan, Project Execution Plan, Project Quality Plan, Risk Register, etc.) for SPS matters.
- Ensure HSE&Q issues are correctly addressed in all SPS technical documentation. Raise comments and highlight deviations, and any unacceptable or unjustified design choices that could affect SPS equipment during fabrication, installation, or production.
- Act as technical referent for contractor(s), coordinating all activities of the SPS engineering team by informing, supporting, and directing personnel in their roles, responsibilities, and objectives.
- Participate in project reviews as required by the organization's governance framework (e.g., project reviews, design engineering reviews, safety case reviews).
- Ensure safe working practices are used within the team during all phases of the project.
